The American Dream The American dream, some say it’s impossible to reach, others say it’s the true achievement in life. The struggles to the American Dream are lack of money, trust and honesty, and lack of time. These are the biggest struggles the come with the American dream. These struggles can take almost a whole life time to behold upon. One of the American Dream’s struggles is the lack of money because things come at an expenses. Food, water, clothes, a home, they all come at a certain price. That’s why everyone looks for good jobs. So they could support a family of their own. In the story “The House On Mango Street,” “I knew then I had to have a house. A real house. One I could point to. But this isn’t it.” This is an example of one of the expenses in the American Dream. Money is makes the world go around. However, there are more struggles then just money.
This is so because in the story The House on Mango Street, “The laundromat downstairs had been boarded up because it had been robbed two days before and the owner had painted on the wood YES WE’RE OPEN so as not to lose business.” This shows how time is a struggle. The owner has to replace the stolen things. Make sure of what he has left is truly his. Then have to keep the business running. That blocks off time to take to relax or rest. Time plays a humongous factor in the American Dream. The American Dream’s struggles are the of money, lack of trust and honesty, and lack of time. These all struggles play a part in the American Dream because. All things come at expenses, in which you need money. Trust and honesty will be needed to expand your point of view on people, so make the right decisions on who you trust.
