In the case of Esperanza and her family they’re living a bad lifestyle and it doesn’t get any better from when they move from house to house or apartment from apartment. Although Esperanza is very intelligent, she’s has yet to figure out that her living conditions aren’t getting better and her dream house won’t getting any better. Despite dreaming big, your reality can really be filled with disappointment.
Esperanza dream house was supposed to cater to her every need and solve most of the family’s problem; however it turned out worst and soon Esperanza was feeling more disappointment. The house as describe by Esperanza was very rundown and not even close to her dream house. “It’s small and red with tight steps in front and windows so small you 'd they were hold their breath. For example, the way Esperanza’s parents have been lying to her. “They always told us that one day we would move into a house, a real house that would be ours for always so we wouldn’t have to move each other” (p.552). When you have your mindset on one thing but you learn that it’s all a lie, it can tear you apart from the inside out. I don’t like being lied, I am all about the truth and if I find out someone is lying to me, especially if it’s a close friend or a family I will feel betrayed and lose trust in that person; therefore I think Esperanza is feeling

Second, Cisneros also uses metaphors to explain how her great-grandmother becomes an independent woman. After she is forced to marry this man she becomes independent because she had to do something she never wanted to do which was marry. It was early summer when my uncle and his wife came over from Australia. I and my uncle had always gotten on quite well, we have always had a connection, so when we found out in spring 2013 that he had a very dangerous form of cancer we were extremely worried about him. Before he moved to Australia with his wife he once had a job working in an old factory in town, the moment he said that I knew exactly which one he was on about, I had been in it before but not for a while. It had been abandoned and relinquished for the past 40 years, but from the rumours that I had heard there was asbestos in the basement and if it were to be knocked down the whole town would be covered in it so it could not be knocked down. My uncle seemed interested in seeing what happened to the old place so I arranged a trip with 3 other friends to take photos and videos inside of the place…

Esperanza describes the new house stating “ Bricks are crumbling in places, and the front door is so swollen you have to push hard to get in”. Her dream house would have working pipes, a basement, more than one bathroom, and real stairs. The house might not be perfect as the dream house she…

In the excerpt, the author shows Esperanza's motivation to get to eat in the canteen by having her beg her mom, complain about how far it is, and state that she believes you are special if you can eat in the canteen. To start off, Esperanza states, “The special kids, the one who wear keys around their necks, get to eat in the canteen”. Esperanza is upset that there are people that get to stay in the school and get to eat there because she thinks that that makes them special and wants to be like them. She says the word “special” which is showing us that she thinks that the kids who get to eat in the canteen get to have something that the other kids don't have which makes them more powerful. This helps us be able to see what motivates her to go to the…
