The House I Want to Live in
The House I Want To Live In
The house of my dream is a two-storeyed blue cottage with a bluish roof in picturesque suburb near the Pacific Ocean. The porch is below ground level because there is a long staircase leading to the hall. In the hall we see another staircase which leads from the hall to the landing on the first floor. On the right there is a dining room. There is a little table and four black chairs for guests. On the left there is a living room where we can gether with my family, watch TV and relax. The room is almost white because of white wallpapers and furniture. It is very spacious. In the middle of the sitting room we have a table with a few armchairs and sofas around it. A big green plant near the table makes the lounge more colourful and vivid. There is also a nice bouquet and a couple of books on the table. Next to the lounge is a kitchen. It’s very modern and bright. There is a black and white chequered floor, a large red table and two stools. As for some electrical gadgets used for preparing, there are a lot of them: a dishwasher, a range, a hotplate, a fridge, a freezer, a toaster, a coffeemaker, a cooker hood and so on. There are also a lot of utensils in a drawers: some canisters, can and bottle openers, pot holders, scouring pads, casserole dishes, pots etc. In front of the table there is a big picture of a red apple.
On the first floor there is a bedroom, a nursery, a bathroom and a lavatory. The bedroom is painted in white and green colors to give the effect of space. There is a big bed and a pretty picture above it, a wooden dressing-table and a bedside cabinet. The nursery looks fantastic because the walls recall the night sky. They ornamented with a lot of bright stars. The parquet is grey and all the furniture is white: an armchair, a bed, the drawers, a bookcase and a wardrobe. The standard-lamp has a pleasant yellow light. It’s not very bright, so that doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable.

A melody is heard, played upon a flute. It is small and fine, telling of grass and trees and the horizon. The curtain rises. Before us is the Salesman’s house. We are aware of towering, angular shapes behind it, surrounding it on all sides. Only the blue light of the sky falls upon the house and forestage; the surrounding area shows an angry glow of orange. As more light appears, we see a solid vault of apartment houses around the small, fragile-seeming home. An air of the dream clings to the place, a dream rising out of reality. The kitchen at center seems actual enough, for there is a kitchen table with three chairs, and a refrigerator. But no other fixtures are seen. At the back of the kitchen there is a draped entrance, which leads to the living room . . .…

The furniture, carpet, curtains, and tile give of such a retro feeling, like you have entered the Brady Bunchs home. With a huge ball of happiness building up in your stomach, you begin to open all the doors in the cabin, revealing what each room has to offer. The layout of the cabin seems very confusing, you cant open certain doors unless the one next to it is closed, and there are two bathrooms right next to each other. As you continue to explore the wondrous cabin, you come across a small kitchen that has food left behind from pervious visits. The whole feel of the kitchen is not like the one you have at your house, it has a much more friendly feel to it, as if its begging to be used. It blends in with the tone of the rest of the cabin, sort of very used, but stuffed with a gargantuan amount of character. The whole house just has a certain feel to it that welcomes you kick back and relax…

The kitchen is decorated with polished wooden cabinets and a squeaky clean stove that shows your reflection when staring down upon it. There is also a fridge in the back of the kitchen and the trash bin resides next to the fridge. Touring the rest of the apartment there is my bedroom, my sister’s room and the master bedroom. My room suits all my needs; whether it be sleeping, eating, studying, or relaxing. My getaway place is my room. There are two twin beds in my room, and a closet full of shoes and clothes. A 50 inch television sits on top of the only black sleek dresser in the room. My room is usually where I invite all my friends over and throw parties. In my sister’s room there is a formal setup, just a simple king sized bed and a beige headstand where she keeps her television. In the hallway there is a treadmill where users can burn off calories and improve cardio. There are two bathrooms in the apartment, inside them are white walls and brown tiles in the tub. Also a mirror is above the sink to make sure people arrange themselves properly before exiting. The master bedroom hosts a bathroom, closet, and a desktop on top of a glass computer…

There is a narrow window a the left. Through its leaded panes the morning sunlight streams> A candle still burns near the bed, which is at the right. A chest, a chair, and a small table are the other furnishings. At the back a cdoor opens on the landing of the stairway to the ground floor. The room gives off an air of clean sparseness. The roof rafters are exposed, and the wood colors are raw and unmellowed.…

The war on drugs whether wrong, right, or indifferent, has yielded a plethora of life changing outcomes for many United States citizens. Both the plaintiff and the defendant have their own side of the dispute, and yet somehow the plaintiff in the non-stop ‘cash grab’ that’s so conveniently nicknamed the “War on Drugs” gets the benefit of zero-tolerance, or minimum sentencing. In most cases the defendants simply are doomed from the beginning due to horrible living conditions and lack of jobs in the area. Coupled with police brutality and prejudice pointed toward the African-American community as a whole, it should come as no surprise that in 2011 there were more African-Americans in prison or “under the watch” of the justice system than were enslaved in the United States in 1850. This is not any more a war on drugs than the Iraqi Conflict was a war on the seizure of weapons of mass destruction.…

The décor of the home was exquisitely decorated in the time period of the house (Campbell). When we finished our self-guided tour we walked out to stand on the verandah and admire the view. It was dark outside and nobody was in the home so we decided to spend the night here. We found two beds and quickly fell asleep.…

Behind the couch and out of view is where the kitchen is. It's small and cozy with two stars leading up to it. An island is in the very center, with marble table tops and various kitchen intensional strewn about. The large windows merge into warm cream colored walls that match the red and black aesthetic of the rest of the house. Two black bar stools are placed by the island, their backs to the couch. Three lights hang over the kitchen, almost like the ones in the living room except these are fixed to the…

The House I Live In was an amazing documentary. I was saddened to hear Nannie's story and the stories of others that I witnessed in the film. I was blown away by how much the war on drugs is really a war on blacks more than anything else. It disgusted me to see the stereotyping of blacks by police officers under the guise of "probable cause." The police aren't about doing real police work, only placing cuffs on blacks and low-income civilians and sending them to jail.…

My bedroom is a cozy, yet quiet place to come to. It may not be the biggest of many bedrooms, but when you walk in the white oak door you see the four walls painted a tan color. There is also white trimming lining the walls. Everything in my room is white, black, or tan. If you are to look to your left when you walk in you see a black 20 inch flat screen hanging on the wall, and below it there is a black oak dresser with a bunch of random accessories on the top of it. There is another door along the north wall that is an entrance to my walk in closet that is cluttered with clothes. Along that same wall is my black wood desk that is held up by 2 steel legs that has a black wood chair with steel legs as well. On the south wall my queen black bed lies in the middle of the wall with brown zebra print bedding along with my one and only green pillow. Next to my bed there is a black floor lamp and on the other side of my bed there is a small bronze colored fan lying on top of a end table. My walls are bare less except for a pair of windows with white shades that are located straight across from the doorway over looking my neighbors. To the left of the windows there are 4 whisked brown baskets hanging on the wall, to the right of the windows you see a black body length mirror hanging on the wall. In front of my mirror on the wood floor lays a straightener, and a hair dryer. Also above my bed there are three 3X4 black canvases that have a pink, white, and yellow Gerber daisy painted on each individual one.…
