The Huntsm Winter's War Trailer
A trailer is a form of advertising in which the purpose of it is to promote a new movie or to persuade the audience to buy the film or see it at a cinema. The genre of a film is usually represented in trailer through the combining of certain scenes and cinematography techniques. For example, a action film may use the camera shots from far away, or slow down the scenes a little bit so that the suspense is able to build, whereas a horror film is likely to be fast paced and allow a lot more close ups of the actors, or certain scenes. The actors in the film could represent more than just the characters they’re portraying, for instance Jim Carrey is mostly known for his roles in comedy, while Rachel McAdams is more known for her roles in romantic films. Based upon the film and what the producers want the audience to see all comes together when creating a trailer. …show more content…

With the original movie based upon the story of Snow White, Troyan portrays the story of the Evil Queen before Snow white and how the story came to be. The opening credits for The Huntsman: Winter’s War trailer reveals that Universal studios produced the film, and the Comcast Company is responsible for distributing the film. The opening trailer introduces an audience to the setting through a distance shot of a forest, carried on by the narration of a man’s deep voice. By doing this the audience feels a sense of demand and control, the man speaks with ease but there’s an edge to each word. The premise of Honest Trailers depict movies in an overtly literal way; by that statement, the creators of Honest trailers can categorize their work and type of work as being New Critics. Through this type of criticism, more focus is put on the movie and its “intrinsic” values versus director’s purpose, representing the historical period or presenting psychological factors (Mays 2333). Main ideas played out by the movie trailers depict the artists’ styles throughout the production of the movies, the artists’ use of figurative language, and the organic unity that further represents universal, human themes.…

The cinematography within the clips also helped to create an enigma within the trailers through editing, camera shots and angles. The editing was incredibly fast paced, including jump cuts from scene to scene showing a jigsaw of different clips which are not in a linear order therefore causing confusion and an enigma for the audience – this was mainly seen within Let The Right One In. another element of cinematography shown was the use of close up camera shots – close ups are commonly used to show emotion and reactions…

It's December 1986 and Captain First Rank Marko Ramius, son of a Communist Party Secretary and the Soviet Union's most trusted and revered submarine commander, is in charge of a new kind of Soviet nuclear submarine called "Red October." It has a new kind of propulsion system that makes it hard to be detected by radar. Once at sea Ramius heads toward the east coast of the United States and then disappears. Both the Soviet leaders and the Americans are terrified of what he may do. The Soviets feared that he may hand the sub over to the Americans and the Americans feared a secret attack on the United States. Both navies head out to sea to find the "Red October." “Hunters in the Snow” by Tobias Wolff starts out Tub waiting for his friends to pick him up. The suspense starts with rising action by his friends being over an hour late. I chose “Hunters in the Snow to be the more suspense than “The Cask of the Amontillado.” Hunters keeps the reader on edge by displaying three different personalities. Confrontation due to human nature. The reader may question whether they are going to show up at all. This is an example of rising action. When Frank and Kenny show up they most run over Tub. Frank and Kenny both team up against Tub. The friends are going hunting together and with the two against the other one it builds suspense of what will happen in the woods. While hunting, Kenny lets out he has a secret with Frank, Tub wants to know what the secret is. Kenny is obnoxious and dangerous with the rifle. He shoots the pole for no reason other than hating it, then he shoots the dog, and then aims the gun at Tub. This is leading to climax of the story. The reader may wonder if Tub is going to die at this point in the story and his friends leave him there to be found, or is Tub going to defend himself and shoot Kenny. Could Frank and Tub leave wounded Kenny or bury him? This is another rising action in the climax. The three friends tell the owner of the land that the dog has been shot. This is another example of suspense will the owner kill them for killing the dog or will he let them go? Kenny hasn’t told his friends the owner had asked him to shoot the dog, is how…

Sexual Assault was not a well-established topic until the 1970’s when victims of assault started to come forward with their stories. The media played a huge part in reliving the victim’s stories and drawing forth the emotions and empathy of the public. It also played a fragment in the victim shaming and blaming because most did not believe that a survivor of sexual assault was telling the complete truth of their assault. The most well established part of mass media that tells the victim/survivor’s story in a more empowering way is movies.…

The Battle of Thermopylae is a famous historical event, many people have known of it probably after watching the great movie 300 that was released back in 2006. The movie tells the story of king Leonidas and his 300 men fighting a fierce battle against the Persian army that came to invade Greece. However, like any other Hollywood movie that is based on an actual historical event, this movie is no exception from rewriting some of the historical facts. After a brief comparison between the real Battel of Thermopylae and the movie 300, one can identify some changes in the movie. Although the movie did a great job recreating this great historical event, there was still some facts about the Spartans military that were changed in…

For me, there is nothing I enjoy more (almost) than reviewing indie films. I am one that seeks out those who could benefit from the extra promotion, and although it can be difficult to sometimes squeeze it into my schedule, I am happy to help when I can. And that is exactly how I feel with The Hunt. This is an independent film, and it just so happens that Kyle Smithers, director of this film, was kind enough to give me the chance to review it. And the fact that it stars Rick Ravanello, one of my favorite actors (and people, for that matter), makes this particular review even more gratifying.…

Every movie and TV show is different but they all share one thing in common, cinematography. Cinematography is how something is shot. Within cinematography are three categories; photographic aspects, framing, and duration. Photographic aspects are the concrete decisions that deal with specifics of the photographic elements; contrast, the difference between black and white and light and dark; exposure, the amount of light per unit area; and tonality, the amount of contrast there is. Framing is what defines the image which include angles, levels, and height. Duration is the period of time that a production lasts for. I could go in depth about all these terms but that is not what this paper is about.…

However, because of the originality and innovativeness found in the film industry, films tend to belong to more than one genre, spawning hybrids such as ‘romantic comedy’ or ‘science fantasy’. One particular film that represents multiple genres flawlessly is Shaun of the Dead, which is directed by Edgar Wright and stars actors like Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. The film is about a man named Shaun who has to juggle personal, relationship and family issues – all the while coping with an apocalyptic zombie uprising. Shaun of the Dead interweaves the conventions of three distinct genres – horror, comedy and romance – through its use of narrative, character and SWAT codes.…

“Now, you remember children how I told you last Sunday about the good Lord going up into the mountain and talking to the people. And how he said, 'Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God’… And then the good Lord went on to say, 'Beware of false prophets which come to you in sheep 's clothing, but inwardly, they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits.’ ” This opening quote by the Bible fearing woman Rachel sets the tone for the film The Night of the Hunter. This quote opens the film with a tremulous benevolence, yet there is also something sinister here, a sense that she, Rachel, is providing mercy for all the world’s wickedness, into which the audience is about to be…

During the early 1960’s, America was going through difficult and frightening times. Our Nation was then deeply involved with the Cold War and the Cuban Missile Crisis brought the United States and the USSR to the verge of nuclear disaster. Even former President at the time, Eisenhower, warned of the dangers our country could embark. There were many student movements and protests that started movements that showed Americans wanting to create a new America. Citizens challenged the normal lifestyles and institutions, in hoping to change America, in hopes what would lead to withdrawal from the war in Vietnam. These protesters showed their views on materialism, lifestyles, and the path to success in society, and what they wanted to change. The idealism our country had during this time, showed that dramatic challenges and obstacles had taken place. America’s most popular and iconic citizens stepped up a lot during this time, in hopes of having a strong impact of inspiration for Americans. The Cold War was one of the most devastated times for our country due to the fact that it led people to think that this was the start of the failure of the American Dream. The nation needed something that showed rebellion against the country, other than just the words spoken from the government.…

A producer when beginning pre-production or even before will most likely look at some form of survey’s which would include things like possible cast members for the film and the amount of audience that would want to see possibly be interested in the genre. They will then take this to the writers and director of the particular film and they will make amendments to how the survey has come out. A producer will also look at the success of recent films of the same type; this is visible in recent times with the resurgence of vampire films following the success of twilight saga this has lead to TV series and films following the same suit but only keeping to the format twilight has set down not going back to the original Dracula, in fact this genre has become so popular that spoof’s have been made and have still had relative success. In Cars 2 Pixar would have possibly used previous research that they have done for Toy Story and Monsters Inc. to understand what children want but they will also do research on adults because they will try and bring in them as well. In comparison Troll Hunter will do very little research because of budget restrictions but they will look at films of the same style such as The Blair Witch Project and what success that it had. Also in post-production both films would have a test screening with different types of audiences to try and make sure that the film is fit for a mass audience or for the audience that they are trying to aim for a prime example of this is Blade Runner where the ending and a narration had to be put in because the audience thought it was to bleak and confusing.…
