Maida always wondered why her uncle Nathan had never been married he always gave her an answer that never fulfilled her question which left her still guessing why. In the story her mom told her the story of “The Skating Party” [Page 190]. What had been told to Maida was basically a flashback used by the author to explain to the readers and Maida why her uncle hadn’t found a wife yet.…
There is a clear example of missing information in this story: Uncle Nathan sketches the stone man for Maida, and his sister teasingly suggests that he has “forgotten” something when drawing the “very complete” stone man. What is Summers hinting at here, and how does the drawing Uncle Nathan has made represent Uncle Nathan himself? (How is he like the “incomplete” stone man he has drawn?)…
The Barclays center had many setbacks when planning to build. These setbacks were due to lawsuits, collapse of the real estate market, some of the landowners refused to sell their land due to personal reasons, and worst of all eminent domain. The site that the Barclays center would be in place of is called Atlantic Yards. This area is where many trains and subways travel through to get to different parts of the huge city, and also where they are cleaned between the busy times of the day. The Court of appeals ruled in a 6 to 1 favor that the state of New York could take over the businesses, homes and a majority of property in the 22 acre area the Barclays center was proposed to be built in 2009.…
In chapter fifteen, Atticus Finch goes at night to the Maycomb Jail to guard Tom Robinson. Scout, not knowing the true intentions of the men, runs from her hiding spot into their circle and attempts to make small talk with Walter Cunningham. After she speaks, Walter tells the men to get back in their cars and go. This is a powerful scene because it shows that there is good in everyone and that the things people share are more important than the things that divide them. She talked with Walter about small things like his son and his entailment, causing him to forget his anger and remember some of his goodness. Her childish innocence and good intentions were enough to remind Walter Cunningham of all the things that he shared with her and Atticus, causing him to lead the previously hostile men away.…

Growing up reading and writing has always been a part of my life; you could always catch my mom sitting in her chair with a book by her favorite author in her hand. I’ll always remember the day that she read a play to me, she was never into theatre as a kid but she read it as if she had been on Broadway. I think that is where my love for reading as well as theatre first started, just watching her so focused and completely into a book. It always amazed me and to this day it still does. I’ve also had some amazing teachers throughout my school years. Have you ever had those teachers who would do anything in the world for you? The teachers who just made you so excited to learn? I know that I have a few; they are the ones that you could never forget. From my English teachers to my theatre teachers, they have all made a difference in my life. I know that it sounds crazy that theatre ties in with all of this, but it does in so many ways.…

As I stroll up to the two giant doors I reach out and grasp one of the pairs of handles, my fingers smudging its shimmering, chrome profile. As I enter the gym, the smells of stale sweat and cleaner mingle with my nose, creating flashbacks of prior experiences. I flash my ID card to the employee working at the front desk and continue on through until I reach my ultimate destination; the basketball court.…
Central Park, located in New York City is a public park designed for people to enjoy sightseeing, tours, exercising, or just plain relaxing. It is an attraction sight for many tourists as well as New Yorkers. According to the book “Central Park, An American Masterpiece” by Sara Cedar Miller, the eight hundred and forty three acres of land began construction in 1857 and won the title of being a National Historic Landmark since 1962. The park which is located in the center of Manhattan, starts from 59th street and extends all the way to 110th street. Based on Miller’s assertions, Central Park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, after he won a park design contest. Olmsted also received help from Calvert Vaux, who was an architect. When the first landscaped public park in the United States was initially created, it was an attraction for wealthy people; however, after the park’s decline, and post adding more attraction sites, the park became less elite. As a result, it became a place for everyone from tourists to residents all over New York.…

The White House is the official residence and principal workplace of the President of the United States. Located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C., the house was designed by Irish-born James Hoban,[1] and built between 1792 and 1800 of white-painted Aquia sandstone in the Neoclassical style. It has been the residence of every U.S. president since John Adams. When Thomas Jefferson moved into the house in 1801, he (with architect Benjamin Henry Latrobe) expanded the building outward, creating two colonnades that were meant to conceal stables and storage.[2]…
Echo Park in Los Angeles is a very nice place to go for a walk, run, and fishing. It is the neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. More than 3,000 people live by Echo Park, and has community centers, schools, and fast-food restaurants nearby. The park is pretty big and wide that anyone has an entrance to visit. The first thing you see when coming to the park is the lake centered in Echo Park. When standing by the lake, you can see the Downtown Los Angeles skyline. The lake is big, green, and fishes swim there. There are also seagulls and ducks. Around the lake is grass and trees to have picnics or naps. The citizens in Echo Park are mostly Latinos, than any race there is. About 400 people visit Echo Park per day, especially at night. People wear any type of clothes to Echo Park because it’s not hot or cold to be there. There’s also a playground on the other side of the lake where children can play. The equipment is made of hard poles, and it’s safe for the children. The people eat outside meals from hot dog stands, burger trucks and ice cream. The food is very good, cheap, and safe to eat. There are many food places to go to such as Burger King, or McDonald’s. Echo Park has special events like Independent Days for Central Americans, Fourth of July, and community events from schools and churches. Echo Park is one of the most popular neighborhood parks there is in Los Angeles. This park is similar to MacArthur Park in Los Angeles as well, except there’s no park but 1 lake and 2 soccer fields. I recommend you to visit sometime at Echo Park, it’s great for your family.…
