Comment on the conflict between Victor and the Iceman:
The conflict started out with Victor seeing the icemans t-shirt. Then they started talking to each other. Suddenly the iceman are asking if they are old enough to buy drinks and beers. Victor and the others is getting does not have any ID. Because, when they are working with bulls, they do not have ID on them. Victor is getting cheeky, and answer him very flippant. Iceman is being racist and threatening them with an arrest. It pisses Victor off. He is arguing further with iceman. Iceman arrest them, and handcuffing them. The police officer asks iceman, why he is arresting them. The iceman really do not know. But he answers it is because they were mouthing off. I think the way iceman acts is stupid. It is okay he is asking for their ID’s, but it Is not Victors problem. It should be the bar iceman should talk to. Of course it very stupid by Victor answering flippant. But I understand him, because he is offending them with racism answers. I will say the bad person is iceman; the way he acts and answers them is just not a police officer decorous.
Essay:There is a lot of racism today. It is a major problem because it brings a lot of trouble. I once went into a bus. I sat me down behind a black man. A normal black man. He was just reading his newspaper. Well, then this guy comes into the bus, and he starts yelling and screaming into the black man’s face. He said he should move because he has no rights. The black man were shocked and said he should relax. The white guy were just getting more pissed off. He started screaming many racism words. But he still wouldn’t move from his spot. Then other passengers in the bus said that the black man should move from his place. Finally the black man moved. I think it is very wrong that the man should move away from the spot just because he was black. He was treating injustice. Everyone in the bus including me should have said to the white guy, that he should shut up and leave the black man alone. That would have been fair to the black man.

While lying on the grass in the front yard, I imagined the exciting night ahead. Before long, Taylor and his girlfriend, Kara, arrived and picked me up. Almost immediately, I stood up and sauntered in my Duke sweatshirt and basketball shorts over to their car. I jumped into the backseat. Immediately, I was assaulted with the strong smell of perfume that had been sprayed inside the car because it belonged to Kara. Tonight instead of driving, she decided to let Taylor drive illegally without a license. As we drove off to Erik’s house, the rendezvous for tonight’s “Goatman” adventure, we saw a police officer had just pulled a car over. As we drove by, we breathe easier and relaxed because we didn’t see any more cops on the way.…

The conflict that one Native American Indian must face on his quest to retrieve his father's bearings. Although not every conflict has an immediate solution, Sherman Alexie does maintain a sense of hopefulness and the possibility of a new beginning. Victor is indeed a man of many conflicts. Victor's self-bitterness partially stems from the deeply embedded conflict that many Native Americans face in this modern day American society. It is merely common in society for people to misplace their anger on someone else; especially someone perceived as weaker. It seems that…

The environment, culture beliefs and society make a great impact in the development of a child. A child goes through different stages of social, emotional, cognitive and physical development. . Throughout the decades, children are taught differently and are viewed to behave a certain way depending where they are from. “ We are prepared by both our cultural and biological heritage to use language and other cultural tools and to learn from each other” (Rogoff, 2003, p.3.) This quote by Rogoff tells us exactly where our learning comes from. Those who surround us mark an influence towards our beliefs and decisions. In todays societies we notice the different methods countries considered the right way a child should act, making us more aware of the actions others make.
