These two characters have allot to do in this story. Old man Warner doesn’t want to modify their traditions all throughout the story. He thinks that anyone who wants to alter the tradition is insane. As for Tessie Hutchinson she was described as a very outgoing person. She finished of opposing the tradition when she found out that she had won the lottery. She yelled out that the picking of the lottery wasn’t fair because she didn’t get enough time to pick. She even had the courage to offer her daughter’s life instead of her own.
In conclusion these characters never opposed the traditions of their community and that was their mistake but also the people in the community for not standing up and saying something about it. In the end every tradition should be questioned at one point. Everyone has different traditions and most don’t even know why they celebrate what they celebrate. Some traditions started of with satanic beginnings. It’s crazy for a person to continue a tradition without knowing the history of that belief. If someone has the possibility of getting hurt in any type of way then that tradition should be questioned on why is it still going on. Maybe even traditions that we have to this
