The Impact Of Hindenburg On Society
Introduction paragraph. The impact that the hindenburg had on society was huge but the disaster itself was a major problem the fact that a few mistakes caused so much of a loss, Henri Giffard a man from france was the first to create this airship in 1853. The airship only flew at a speed of about six miles per hour. Germany did not manufacture this until about a century later. The main cause of this was that a small gas leak had formed the ropes completed a circuit when touching the ground which made a spark causing the paint to ignite and eventually burned through to the gas. Lightning could be the cause or one of the causes of this disaster, yet the hindenburg has been hit by lightning multiple times and been fine with barely any damages

Airships were essentially bomb carriers called Zeppelins, named after Count Ferdinand Von Zeppelin. They were quite the menacing sight measuring 640 feet long, propelled by four gasoline engines and traveling at a speed of 60 miles per hour. Although they destroyed many factories and homes, they were also very vulnerable to bad weather and vulnerable targets that could very easily be shot down by fighter planes. They were also highly flammable when shot by incendiary bullets because of their hydrogen gas. Although advantageous early on in the war, the development of fighter planes during the war slowly diminished the use of Zeppelins and their…
