The Impact of Internet On Society
The Internet is in many ways seen as an essential to life today and also, has influenced, and is still influencing the way society communicates in many different ways. The rise of the internet has caused people to communicate differently in areas never dreamed of before the internet came into existence. Education has been revolutionized through the world of the “Information Super Highway”. Medicine has also seen reform as the internet improves research and communication. It is used in the workplace, school and home. With the invention of the Internet, the world was forever changed in both good and bad ways.
On the society, the effect of the internet use is positive as information on the internet is infinite; the effect of the internet is also negative as the immediacy of the plethora of information reduces accuracy and truthfulness. Hence, we can not really pick a side because the internet is both good and bad. And, we must learn to avoid the negatives and it will become the best mentor.
There are several advantages with the use of internet. One positive that has resulted from the Internet is the fact that you are always able to access research information anytime of the day or night. The Internet has every kind of information that you could possibly want, there is everything from how-to's to high level medical research information as Several universities are publishing their research papers in their websites/digital libraries. Besides research information, there also is daily local and world news information, and also weather. Young children also benefit from the Internet because there are so many websites geared to learning for them. Convenience has also been another benefit from the Internet. You can pay your bills by the click of a button or even buy birthday gift without even leaving the house and usage of internet in shopping via online shopping carts helped both clients and customers.
Not everything that has resulted from the Internet has been positive, some negative things have also come along with it. One of the worst results from the Internet is so much illegal and inappropriate information available on internet without any restrictions. Even children can get access to mature and blood related games, pornography and other stuff which is not suitable for their age. And, Internet is becoming a platform to share copyrighted or illegal material, music, videos and other documents. Computer viruses, phishing, Trojans etc. are increasing rapidly creating several crimes. Financial crimes are also growing at a steady pace which requires attention amongst all internet users.

Another aspect of internet is people can spend unlimited amount of time without any bore or hard feeling. Recent trends shows that the publicizing the personal life and information in social network websites is increasing and the tendency of considering the virtual online world as real world is increasing very rapidly. Recent medical studies show that addiction of internet is causing personal, professional as well as social problems. Another negative affect of the Internet is that false information can also be found, which can lead to lots of confusion. Frustration from advertising has also increased with the Internet, the advertising on the Internet can become annoying.
Internet is like a double edged sword which can be used for both positive and negative purposes. We can’t imagine our world now a days without internet as this mingled with our daily life very much and this is inseparable from us. There fore, we must learn to avoid the negatives so we can enjoy the positives to their full extent. Use internet in the positive way and it will become the best mentor.

Before we get onto the positive effects of internet use, let’s start with these much touted negative side effects. The naysayers would have us believe that the internet prevents us from interacting on a face to face basis and destroys old fashioned pursuits of writing letters and speaking on the phone; people even meet their spouses online these days! With business and finance now handled online we’re also far too dependent on the internet and would be at a loss should it break down. With the internet in our pocket we’re now never ‘disconnected’ and are at our boss’ beck and call 24 hours a day. Our bank cards are also more susceptible than ever to fraud and theft… And through all this we’re getting addicting and neglecting our real relationships, stuck inside in a more and more hermit like existence. They also say that sitting in front of a computer prevents us from getting outside and basking in fresh air and instead gives us repetitive strain injuries, hunched over spines and square…
