The Importance Of Abortion In Canada

Abortion is the medical procedure of inducing expulsion of a human fetus to terminate a pregnancy 1. In Canada, access to health care services is guaranteed by the Canada Health Act. Abortion is considered as medically necessary, insured and fully funded by the provincial government under the Canada Health Act. It is a medical service that is essential to the health and medical treatment, and available to any person, who seeks one.2 There are no restrictions to whoever is willing to take an abortion; an individual who seeks for abortion do not need consent from spouse or partner, parents or doctor, no need to wait for a specific time of pregnancy, and can choose whenever you want to do it. According to the recent statistics 3, in 2011
there are more than 108,844 cases of abortion reported across Canada, and most of these incidents are from Ontario with 44,434 cases. But in 2015, the reported abortion cases decreases to 100,104. The pro-abortion says that choosing abortion is a right that cannot be limited by any religious or government authority. On the other hand, anti-abortion contend that abortion is immoral killing of an innocent human being, and suffering for the unborn child.4 Abortion is also unfair for those couples who cannot conceive biologically but waiting for adoption. In the modern society, universal and modern sex education at schools, availability of contraceptives, and abolishment of poverty and equality for women may lead to massive decline of abortion. Whenever faced in an unplanned pregnancy there are so many alternative things that you can do instead of taking away someone’s life, option of adoption, placing the baby to a family member or accepting it and be a single parent.
Abortion is a terrible thing, it is morally wrong; it is a sin because committing murder is against the law of God and I believe that it should be illegal in Canada. The past government did not even think about it, before they created an act that a lot of people can suffer.
