The last time an amendment was ratified was in May of 1992 with the 27th Amendment. (Constitution of the United States: Amendments 11-27) During this time however, there have been some amendments that never managed to succeed. The Corwin Amendment, which is another name for the original 13th Amendment, was a last ditch effort from what would become the Confederate States to keep allow each state to keep individual control over businesses that occur within the boarders. Doing so would basically allow them to keep slavery as an active thing. However, that amendment failed due to a technicality and only two states ratifying it. Due to the nature of it and how times have changed to a more free society, it would be highly impossible for this amendment to be passed…

Amendments in the United Sates constitution have changed our government and our society. Amendments are usually ratified due to social events that occur over time .Ideologies also pay a considerable role to the ratification process as well. If it wasn't for political groups such as The Anti-Feudalist we may not have obtained the 1st amendment which sates "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." (The Bill of Rights) Another Amendment which is coherent to the 1st is the 10th Amendment which states "The powers not…
The Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution happened after the War Reconstruction .It was meant to secure the rights of former slaves. It was proposed on June 13, 1866. Sandford which had excluded slaves from possessing Constitutional rights. The amendment requires states to provide equal protection under law to all persons within their jurisdictions and was used in the 20th century to get rid of racial segregation in the…

After this amendment was passed slavery was made illegal and the constitution was changed.…

Government is a set of rules people set up so they can function together based on rules and regulations as a society and “We the people” being the first phrase that comes from the constitution which affects the United States of America Citizen on a daily whether it is positively or negatively, this sentence should represent democracy and equality, sadly it isn’t the case. In a democratic country people are all under the law and no one is considered above the law but many have experienced that contradict itself…

In today’s day, racism and fascism are still alive, regardless of what people's perception of modern day society. The fourteenth amendment can be applicable to anyone who is not part of the majority and protects their rights. Amendment fourteenth should continue to be part of the constitution. The United States is known for its freedom and liberty and the fourteenth amendment allows everyone to strive for the “Pursuit of Happiness” and the “American Dream.”…
The Second Amendment First these are the reasons of why the Second Amendment is in the Bill of Rights and in the U.S Constitution Second the second Amendment of the Bill of Rights states, that a person has the the right to bear arms and to maintain a militia. This means that the government cannot violate this law. Third the Second Amendment is important because during the revolutionary war each colony had a militia which gave them the right to bear arms. One reason this amendment was included in the Bill of Rights was to let people bear arms to protect themselves or to go hunting.…
This is an important moment for delegates to decide whether or not to ratify The Constitution. This is an important moment in our countries history because the delegates are deciding how the government is going to work. Why we have created this document is because the Articles of Confederation aren't working, and people think that the constitution are not going to work either. The proposed will give us Constitution nothing but failure. The Constitution shouldn't be ratified because this form of government has never been tried, even by Great Britain, and it could destroy the country a lot worse then the Articles of Confederation, it not only will do that but, even with the risk, we will have all branches of government to be filled with the wealthy elite class of people. And for these reasons, I think we shouldn't ratify the Constitution.…
The worst that can happen is the 2nd Amendment will be violated. Some states have already violated the Amendment such as New York or California. The question to ask is where does it stop? However, Texas has always been very open to the 2nd Amendment and think it would be the last state to ever give up there guns. Background checks and a waiting period should be okay for any American because we have a society filled with unstable people. Every American should want to support the right to bare arms.…
The First Amendment states “ Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.“ This amendment prohibits the government from making a national religion as well as protecting those who practice any religion from Christianity to Judaism. This amendment was written on June 7, 1789 and ratified December 15, 1791. James Madison, include an attribute said “ The civil rights of none shall be abridged on account of religious belief or worship, nor shall any national religion be established, nor shall the full and equal rights of conscience be in any manner, or on any pretence, infringed.'' Freedom of Religion was important to our Founding Fathers. In Britain there was a lot of Religious Persecution in the 19th century. Many people were executed for practicing a religion other than Protestant. Clearly our founding fathers knew that something was wrong with that. Why should someone be killed for practicing a religion other than the one you personally believe…
