I observed a child throwing a fit at the mall the other day. This child did not want to leave the store and did not want to get into her stroller. She started to throw her head back and scream very loudly. Then she would throw her arms around and kick, in an attempt to not be strapped in. The mother started to yell at her daughter to stop while trying to strap her in. After a few minutes of the child kicking and screaming she was able to strap her in. But the child continued to scream, this was when the mother decided to leave the mall. My recommendation is that instead of trying to force the child into the stroller the parent could have held the child. Trying her best to calm her down, since the child was throwing around her body while the…
When child B begins playing with the sand and using the scoop to pour sand over the wheel, she is using her imagination and using equipment and exploring materials which showed good creative and physical development. She calls out “weee weee look it going fast, faster, stop stop” showing her ability to be descriptive and use language for communication. She bends down to check how the sand falls showing physical ability and when she starts to fill a bowl with a scoop she counts as she scoops sand into the bowl using mathematics and showing awareness of measures. When another child attempts to play with B, her disposition becomes hostile until a teacher steps in to encourage the children to read together assisting B to develop relationships with her peers and encouraging self-control when a situation arises that makes B angry. B responds well to adult interaction and very much enjoyed reading with the teacher, all helping with her personal, social and emotional development. She turns the pages herself and names characters and words she recognises, showing communication and language development and also literacy skills, this is also reinforced when later on, B writes her name on a picture she drew . When B is asked open ended questions regarding the book, she responds by predicting the end of the story using great language skills and lots of descriptive words, expressing her imagination and creative development.…
Annie Makes a Mess of her New Red Dress sprouted from a seed of a few ideas about a little girl who receives a new dress and has trouble with it. The purpose of my children’s book is to communicate the different elements of life that small children love or hate such as birthday parties, lollies, balloons, parks and playgrounds. Another purpose is to educate children about overcoming adversity and the fact that it’s never as bad as they think. There are many themes in this book but the main ones are adventure and overcoming adversity.…

In the article “Grace is A Gift”, the author, Laura Durham, tells a story to the audiences about her childhood and a life lesson that she was learned from it. In the day before the Easter Day, the teacher says all of the students will celebrate the Easter Day on Friday. Moreover, they must bring the spelling tests with their parents signed on it if they want to join the party.…
An observation takes place when practitioners watch the children who are within their care and take notes of what they see or hear. Observations help identify individual children’s needs in order for them to be met. Taking regular observations of children help practitioners discover children’s interests as well as new skills and abilities. Similarly, observations give professionals the chance to monitor children’s progress and plan next steps to further children’s development.…
When I arrived, Athena was finishing her morning snack/breakfast. After a few minutes, she got up and stood in line to wash her hands. (gross motor skills) While waiting, she was standing very close to the other child in front of her. With the assistance of a teacher, Athena washed her hands and pulled out a paper towel from the dispenser. When she was done drying her hands, she walked over to an area with a lot of toys. She grabbed a stuffed animal. She then started crawling around the floor as she looked at the other toys. She found a pet carrier and proceeded to put the stuffed animal into the carrier. When she finished putting the stuffed animal in the carrier, she placed the carrier on a chair. She then looked around the toy area and walked to the center of the classroom. Athena stood in the center of the classroom for a few minutes. She looked at what the other children were doing. She returned to the chair where she had left her stuffed animal and picked up the carrier. With the carrier in hand, she walked to a table where other children were playing. She sat at the table but did not play or interact with the other children. (onlooker play) After a few minutes, she took the carrier back to the play area and set the carrier on a chair.…

This observation took place on Saturday October 17th at Town Center Corte Madera at approximately 2:00pm. The day was bright and sunny and the Mall was full of all kinds of parents and children. I choose a male child approximately 3 years old, wearing blue top and black pants with sponge bob square pants sneakers. The mother was wearing a yoga outfit as most mothers in Marin seem to wear these days. She was in her mid-thirties. Dad was also present, he wore a short sleeved Hawaiian print shirt with Khaki shorts and flip flops, and he too seemed to be in his mid-thirties. I was sitting at the table near the elephant fountain facing the fountain with my back to the store so know…
The child I am observing (Child N), is a five-year six-month old boy who attends a public school located in the West Village area of Manhattan. He is classified as being speech impaired. As per classroom teachers, he is bright in the sense that there are some tasks he is able to complete without verbal cues such as sorting, and an inquisitive child in the sense that shows interest in new things and people. My first day he stared at me nearly the entire time I was in the class. He demonstrates delays in most areas of development. Child N receives speech therapy individually two times a week for thirty minutes in a separate location and in a group of three, once a week, for thirty minutes in a separate location. He receives occupational…
Some people like to work early morning, others like to work until late at night. I would prefer to get up early morning and start my day’s work than working until late night. Working early in the morning can make me more energetic and I can remember everything quickly. There are many reasons why I like work early morning is that I feel fresh, I have more time to do different activities.…
On November 6th, I observed a four year-old boy at the UCI Early Childhood Education Center. My observation starts at 4:10pm, and it lasts for thirty minutes. At the time I did the observation, all of the children woke up from the nap time and started to play outside of the classroom. The playground is at least seventy-five square feet, and it has many play stations for children. Three classrooms share the same outside playground, and the age groups of those children are from three years old to five years old. All of the children could access to the outside playground through the back door in their classrooms. From the left side of the playground, there is a basketball stand next to the tree, then moving toward to the right, there is a lawn in the central of the playground. On the grass, there is a big…

It was playtime for the one year old boy. There were all sorts of toys. The playroom was very small. There was a huge toy chest full to the top with toys. On the wall there was a body length mirror. This was the little boys favorite place to play. He would also play with some of the other toys like blocks, cars, stuffed animals and other things. No matter what he grabbed he always brought it in front of the mirror.…
I had the opportunity to observe at the Isabel Patterson Child Development Center in Long Beach. It was my first time observing in this center so I had to be there before my observation time, which was at 2:30pm. Once, I entered the building the atmosphere was welcoming and enjoyable. The children I observed where around the ages of three to five. During my observation there was twenty-eight children and five teachers present. The building was all wooden on the inside and at the entrance there was a welcome wall colored with a rainbow. There were art projects hanged on the walls as well as learning material. On the sides of the of the building shelves were organized with labels so that the children would know where to put back the material.…
