Introduction
A clavicle fracture is a broken collarbone. The collarbone is the long bone that connects your shoulder to your chest wall. A broken collarbone may be treated with a sling or with surgery. Treatment depends on whether the broken ends of the bone are out of place or not.
Follow these instructions at home:
If you have a sling:
Wear the sling as told by your doctor. Remove it only as told by your doctor.
Loosen the sling if your fingers tingle, become numb, or turn cold and blue.
Do not lift your arm. Keep it across your chest.
Keep the sling clean.
Ask your doctor if you may remove the sling for bathing.
If your sling is not waterproof, do not let it get wet. Cover the sling with a watertight covering if you take a bath or a shower while wearing it.

After collapsing to the floor, she found that she could no longer stand. She was taken to the emergency room where X rays revealed that the neck of her femur was fractured. A bone scan revealed reduced bone mass in the head and neck regions of the injured femur, in other long bones of the body and in the vertebrae, suggestive of osteoporosis. Surgery was required to repair the femur, and a biopsy of the bone tissue revealed that the composition of the osteoid is normal. Healing of the fracture is proceeding slowly.…
