Sharing similar values in a friendship is important because it’s the starting point of many great friendships. For example, my closest friend Emma, shares a common interest with me. We both play soccer, which was the starting point of our friendship. George and Lennie have the same common experiences of working on a farm. They’re both terrorized by the boss’s son. The boss's son, Curley, is very rude to the both of them. As a result, George and Lennie share this common hatred for him.

Without my friends, it would make my life a million times harder. Some bad things I go through are directly related to my friends, but it’s all worth it to me. These friends have taught me many lessons throughout my life. A close friend of mine died a while back. It made me realize how I shouldn’t take things for granted and to always be nice to others. An example of this in Of Mice and Men is if George hadn’t made Lennie feel like a reject had invited him to horseshoes then he would’ve never killed Curley’s wife. This is a horrible way for George to learn that he has to always put others before himself, but it is a lesson he will never ever forget. In the end George and Lennie were there for each other.
