This existing policy of course is the second amendment. She explains how she highly agrees with the amendment but that people are seeing the amendment in the wrong way. The second amendment states “A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed” The author also has no facts to be proven, her argument is mostly surrounded by opinion and belief. The only facts she really has are the most obvious to everyone: like a person who drives a car is licensed or the second amendment has the word militia in it.…
Chicago is a city that has enforced very strict gun laws in order to lessen crime rates. However, despite all their limits and restrictions, Chicago has a high number of gun-related crimes. As a matter of fact, according to Chicago Police, 20% of the 1375 guns retrieved from criminal activities from 2008 to 2012 were purchased from a single shop called Chuck’s Gun Shop, just a few miles away from the city in the village of Riverdale, Illinois. This shows that despite all the strict gun laws in Chicago, criminals are still able to find a way to retrieve firearms through neighboring cities and states to commit their crimes. It illustrates how stricter gun laws must be enforced throughout the entire nation to ensure that criminals will not be able…
Gun Safety has been a big topic that people are speaking of all the time. The Second Amendment says that citizens have the right to bear arms. That amendment was created for militias as America had become free and they didn’t want any surprise attacks from Britain incase they tried to take America back, now America and Britain are close allies. Everyday on the news there’s always a shooting and maybe it’s because guns are easy to access. I do not think that civilians need guns. Now some might argue that the police are corrupt and that they don’t want to rely on the police to do something that they can handle but that is their job. If guns are banned than their needs to be higher protection against smuggling as criminals will obviously not…
Young kids don’t have the understanding that a gun can potentially kill or seriously injure someone. A great amount of kids involved in tragic accidents are too young. Most parents think they’re old enough to keep a gun around the house and believe they’re responsible enough to be given one, but they’re not. According to the Journal Gazette newspaper, the younger, the more curious a child is about guns. So, the more time and effort it will take to bring him or her to the point of understanding why it is so important not to handle guns without adult guidance. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Nearly 800 children under 14 years old were killed in gun accidents from 1999 to…
There is a big controversy about whether or not to have control over guns. One side of the controversy is that no citizen is allowed to have a gun in the house hold, only allowing the Army, Cops, and anyone with that power over the country. You also have the other side that the citizens are on, where many of the citizens use firearms for hunting, safety, and many other things. How could we take away firearms when so many people have and use them, “In the United States every 100 people 88.8% have firearms.” (ProCon.org “Gun Control ProCon.org”,1) The main reason the government is thinking to have gun control, is to decrease the lives that are getting taken away by these powerful tools that we use to have fun. Many people…
Gun violence in the United States has exponentially grown into a highly pressing issue in political and social discourse in today’s society. More and more cases of teenagers, young adults, and psychopathic criminals engaging in gun violence have arisen in recent years. Years ago, gun violence was typically associated with the inner city, but recently the plague has reached college campuses, malls, movie theaters, high schools, and even grade schools. The government, schools, peace organizations, and common people are banding together to find ways to deal with the matter adequately. Unfortunately, the solution is not obvious. There are varying viewpoints on the issue across the political and social spectrum, which creates controversy and dispute on what should be done. One thing is known, however; something needs to change.…
The most important role of the United States government is to protect the rights and freedoms of individual citizens. Some might argue that the world 's greater issue is government(1). All countries have social issues that are mostly blamed on the government. Governments should first focus on the social issues that the citizens are mostly concerned off. The United States has many social issues some of those issues are education, tax the wealthy, creation of new jobs, same sex marriage, gun control and many others.…
“People can have the right to held their weapons to protect their freedom”, which is Americans belief and right given by the constitution. With this belief, The United States might be the only developed country which widely allowed its citizens holding guns. The custom of holding a guns caused the cowboy culture, which leaded americans have expanded and developed their country to be the most powerful country in the world today. However, today’s American is not the country of cowboys anymore. As a consequence of the 2nd Amendment in today’s America, the gun shooting has been a big threat to the public security. It’s the time to reexamine the gun culture’s affection, whether the guns still provided protection it was expected. Especially to Iowa people, they may need to really think about this question although they have the most optimistic environment of holding guns, because the risk never appears today might be realized tomorrow.…
Many people believe that there should be no lengthy process in obtaining a gun specifically because it diminishes their right of security. In more than half the United States it is legal for an honorable discharged veteran to carry a licensed firearm with no lengthy process. Others believe that it should be the same for the rest for the rest of America. The process for a veteran to acquire a gun only depends upon them to pass a criminal background check, accumulate a copy of their DD form stating you were discharged under an honorable status, as well as supply any type of identification with a photo for the license, and finally pay a license fee of one hundred and seventeen dollars for five years. Many people believe it should be the same for the rest of America. Given that the veteran has just been discharged from war, they too may have post traumatic stress…
Guns started in China about one thousand years ago, but have been evolved in order to be more efficient in the amount and quality of ammunition shot as well as the accuracy and power of the guns. Gun use in America began when the nation was first colonized. The purpose of the guns were to help the colonists with gathering pelts and food, and defending them from attacks. Older guns were equipped with ammunition that was loaded into the gun from the muzzle, giving them their nickname muzzle loaders, and the hammer on the gun struck a flash pan that held gunpowder. These guns, known as muskets, have since been upgraded enough to have more advanced guns such as a Mossberg five hundred or an AR fifteen.…
Since the founding of our country, millions of lives have been taken due to lack of gun regulation. In the past year alone, there have been more mass shootings than there have been days in the year. These acts of terror have resulted in 12,703 deaths, 3,385 of which have been children and teenagers aged 0-17. The topic of gun regulation has become more and more heated over the past few years due to the increasing amount of controversial cases involving weapons (i.e. police brutality cases and racial discrimination incidents). Due to the rise in gun-related deaths, the United States Federal Government continues to argue over the way to reduce the number of innocent lives lost. Republicans argue that mental health should be a greater focus than…
Why is gun control so important to humanity? Gun control is a major problem in the United States and in other countries. Gun control is both good and bad for the United States and other countries.…
Americans seem to have a love for guns. In the United States gun ownership and gun control are huge political and social issues. Although there are many Americans that would argue that guns ownership is wrong and that there should be stricter gun control laws in the country, there are many more that believe the opposite to be true. The United States, with less than 5 percent of the world’s population, has about 35–50 percent of the world’s civilian-owned guns, according to a report by the Switzerland-based Small Arms Survey, it ranks number one in firearms per capita. The United States also has the highest homicide-by-firearm rate among the world’s most developed nations (Masters). If this is true, then why the fascination for guns in the…
The first, and probably the most important reason, is that handguns can easily get in the hands of children. Keeping them out of sight in a closet, or under ones' bed may not be enough. For example, a couple years ago, a five-year old boy was shot in his head by his eight-year-old brother. The older brother located the gun under his parent's bed. Thinking it was a toy gun, he pointed it towards his brother's head and pulled the trigger. These kinds of unfortunate events have occurred all over the United States. Another devastating event was the Columbine shooting. In 1999, two teenagers went on a shooting spree killing a teacher, twelve fellow students, and wounding twenty-four others. It is sad things like this happen, but people should not be surprised. With the law allowing us to own guns, these types of things will continue to happen.…
In Step 1, it is said that the full sequential trigger is the safest trigger mechanism for the job and reduces the risk of unintentional nail discharge and a list of other things. Unintended nail discharge is very likely to lead to hand or arm injuries.…
