The Importance Of Gun Safety In The United States

Weapon safety is overlooked by the sellers and buyers of guns, especially buyers who have kids in their home. Many states in the U.S. have very weak requirements in relation to gun safety. Some states are very strict and require hours of gun safety classes while others, including Georgia, are lenient and require no more than background check to posses a weapon. According to GeorgiaCarry.org, “You will need a valid state issued ID…[and] be required to pass a background check when purchasing a firearm from a dealer” (Georgia Carry). These Georgian safety protocols are obviously flawed because of the amount of deaths that come from the lack of gun safety. Also, it is an issue for the massive differences between states and their laws on this topic.
