If I was provided the authority to reduce gun violence I would make it an appoint to make everyone who were trying to purchase a gun complete a background check. This way you have a track record of the person who’s attempting to purchase some of the most dangerous weapons. I would also make sure anyone who is suffering from mental illness also become flagged in my background system. Make sure that all gun stores and licensed weapons are passed on to law enforcement when lost or stolen. These mass shooting are occurring mainly due to mental illnesses of the deranged suspects. People who were war veterans and came home mentally ill and unstable have snapped. These type of individuals have easy access to dangerous weapons.…
. I personally think, this will deter any violent, gun related incidents from occurring in the future. There could be safety precautions set in place to help this on its way, such as have signs on the schools that say “This School Has Armed Teachers” and keeping the holder of these guns completely…
Guns have been used for decades for protection. However, is allowing a teacher to carry a gun in school premises truly protecting and properly educating our children? In the United States of America, many school are considering allowing their teachers to carry guns in schools. It is true that the protection on school grounds is unquestionably essential, but teachers should not be allowed to carry guns in schools. This could ultimately lead to a more immoral, dangerous and decrepit environment for children to grow up in.…
However, in order to really solve the violence problem United States is facing, there needs to be realistic solutions, and banning the possession of guns is not a realistic solution. Legislations who ban types of guns are ineffective in the long term. For example, the Violent Crime Control Act and Law Enforcement Act of 1994 which banned assault weapons, did not seem to have any effect on crime at all. Between the years 1994-2004, gun violence using the banned assault weapons did not change dramatically, however, gun crimes using non-banned semi-automatic weapons were rising between the years 1994-2004. The bill was finally expired on September 13, 2004 when it was ruled unconstitutional.…
In recent years, there have been many school shootings. Students and faculty deserve the right to carry a firearm to protect themselves. There have been many occasions when the campus police were not able to protect students and faculty. The second amendment gives the right for Americans to bear arms. However, firearms should not be allowed on college campuses because people will feel unsafe, some individuals do not know how to use a gun, and officers will become confused.…
this article was about the shootings in schools and how they are conferred for the most part by the ethnically white populace. It says that the main reason the daily paper utilizes the words "our young men" is on account of the young men that carry out the wrongdoings, similar to the dominant part of America are working class white guys who are attempted to be straight. The creator goes ahead to state that on the off chance that we take a gander at the circumstance as though the young men were gay or of an alternate ethnic foundation the whole story would be exploded with cases of prejudice and loathe stories. She goes ahead to state that the purpose for most shootings has nothing to do with contempt except for simply discovering one's five…
It has always proven true that dealing with the root of a problem is the most effective way possible. When examining and addressing gun violence, it is pertinent to focus on the guns themselves and those who own them. Gun violence has been a major issue in the world for quite some time. The most catastrophic examples are mass shootings that devastate numerous families and citizens nationwide. Although these events are leaving a scar in America and around the world, there are not many current implementations that are addressing these issues.…
A national telephone survey finds that 62% of Americans with children of elementary or secondary school age would feel safer if their school had armed guards (Pavlich). Many people (parents) believe that if schools had armed guards on campus they could stop the next mass murder at schools. These are some of the reasons that the government and school boards should allow armed guards on school campuses.…
Interestingly enough the National Institute of Justice has a list of programs that have been implemented in US history to deter the gun violence in America. Programs such as : Operation ceasefire, Directed Police Patrol, Strategic Approaches to Community Safety Initiative, and Project safe neighborhood are all meant as programs for the prevention of gun violence. These programs have proven to help quite a bit, but the issue of gun violence is still here. The only way to truly prevent gun violence is to take the weapon…
The idea of violence and mental illness in the news can affect society in many different ways. News articles that focus on mental illness is intended to change society’s opinion on gun control to make them believe it is the person’s fault for the gun violence. Instead of finding fault in the guns itself, people want to blame mental illnesses for causing all the problems in the world, “conservative commentator Anne Coulter provocatively proclaimed ‘guns don’t kill people- the mentally ill do”’ (Metzl and McLeish). Blame is being put on people with mental illnesses and no one is blaming the actually weapons. In reality the blame should be put on both the guns and person. The people who are committing these crimes are not sane people, and they have many problems. They can be extremely dangerous to the world, but so are guns. People have discovered that “60% of perpetrators of mass shootings in the Unites States since 1970 displayed symptoms including acute paranoia, delusions, depression, before committing a crime” (Metzl and McLeish). How many of this mass shootings are publicized in the media? The answer is that more than…
Offering educational classes about how to use firearms and classes that provided citizens with information about the causes of gun violence is another way in which I believe could solve the crisis of gun violence. I believe that there is an abundance of people who either own a gun and are unaware of how to operate it properly or who don’t own a gun and don’t understand the sense of protection and safety is supplies people with. If classes on gun safety and operation were offered as no charge, more people…
Resulting with 12 dead and 20 injured, April 20th, 1999, ultimately became the day of the worst high school shooting in U.S. history at Columbine High School, prompting a national debate on gun control and school safety. According to the article Columbine High School Shootings “In the aftermath of the shootings, many schools across America enacted “zero tolerance” rules regarding disruptive behavior and threats of violence from students (History.com).” In addition, there have been many more strategies used to prevent such events from happening in the future. Educators and the police focus on suggestions such as training, raising money for emergency preparedness, training school bus drivers in security and hardening school buildings’ vulnerability…
Over the years school shootings have affected many lives all over the world. Witness of a school…
What can we do to decrease the rate of gun violence in America without making it illegal for anyone to carry a gun? First, we do background checks of anyone who wants to buy a gun. Second, if they want to buy a gun, they have to go through serious training. Third, lock down on the black markets and weapon trafficking. Next, we take it more serious when guns are stolen or taken. Finally, we try our hardest to make sure that guns don’t get in the hands of the wrong…
My opinion on how we should control the death caused by gun violence is simple, the gun is not the problem the person who stands behind the gun and pulls the trigger is the problem in this situation. It was their choice to buy the gun, plan the violence, and carry out with their plan. These people should not have the capability to buy a gun, but people should have the right to buy and protect themselves and their families.…
