It's early October on the grounds of the University of Kansas where barren trees; swaths of dormant, beige grass; and the pale, limestone buildings have created a monochromatic tableau that looks like a picture in an old, yellowed newspaper. Amongst the landscape of what could look like cathedrals lies a building that brings many students to their feet in anticipation of what will happen. Indeed, arriving for a game at Allen Fieldhouse can feel like preparing to rummage through the dusty archives of college basketball. But after a 2005 renovation, there's nothing musty about the newly developed structure. And with one of the best teams in the NCAA holding court inside, Allen Fieldhouse is all about the traditions that…
That is partly because real fans like me can't afford those ticket prices. Well maybe the bleachers…lol!…
This strong base of loyal supporters that the New York Islanders possess will remain a strength that keeps them safe regardless of the Barclay Center debacle. Although the Barclay Center has come across issues with accommodating to a hockey environment, the New York Islanders fan base has been their greatest advocates for the team and the sport. They have actively made an attempt to change the system to make the Barclay Center “home.” Initially, changes were being made that only alienated the already established Islander fans, such as “a change in the sound of the goal horn; forbidding fans from going to the glass during the warmup skate; the banishment of Islanders mascot Sparky” (Drance, 2016). These modifications caused a shift in the already unsteady attendance reports, but the loyal fans helped the brand adapt and survive. The goal horn from the Nassau Coliseum was reinstated, fans crowd the glass during warm-ups and Sparky is back, which caused a turnaround in the ticket sales in the first season at the stadium. After the first nine games, the season attendance was up 23% and the ticket revenue was up 34% (Drance, 2016). A loyal and committed fan base is crucial as it will sustain an industry and is currently supporting the organization of the New York…
The pre-game experience in the city, the historical vibe of the arena, and, of course, the excitement of the greatest game in sports are all reasons to love the home of the Detroit Red Wings. This team carries so much respect and history, like the arena itself, it would be difficult to not find fun or excitement when experiencing the team and the place they call home in Hockey Town,…

James Naismith does the name mean anything? Well it should, because of Naismith we have the game basketball. Naismith was born in Almont, Ontario, and was educated at McGill University and Presbyterian College in Montreal. Naismith was the physical education teacher at McGill University from 1887 to 1890 and at Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts 1890 to 1895 (Bellis). It wasn’t until 1890 that Naismith was given the job to create a new game by Dr. Luther Halsey Gulick, the director of the physical education department (McCuaig).…

Even though Most of the time I just get to watch it on TV. On Saturdays at home I wake up in the Moring in my Aransas pajamas ready for the game to hurry up and come on. You don’t just watch Arkansas football when your me, when your me, you are the coach, player, water girl, fan, and announcer. I get very into the games even if I’m at home or at the game in person. I tell myself what needs to happen, who needs to run where, and scream if they don’t do it right. Arkansas football isn’t just a sport, it’s an environment. There is nothing better than going to any game and calling for the best team. I love calling the hogs with everyone around me at an Arkansas game. Knowing that others are cheering for the same thing as me makes me feel close and together, tightly…

Some things on this earth are just magical. To some it may be the beach at sunset, to others it may be as simple as the drive to work in the morning. For me that place is Fenway Park in Boston Massachusetts.…
I see my brother, Wayne, laying down on the grass wearing his Aaron Brooks jersey, tossing a football up and down, trying to get his radio going. At first he was pretty excited about getting to be on the superdome grass, but the moment we got in and saw…
I could talk all day and everyday explaining why ball games are such enjoyment. To start with, it is a no brainer, marching and playing during halftime is the best part. I love having the lights shining on my face and all eyes set on me giving me their attention. I do not love constantly attempting to not fall on my face, of course, but in the end it is all one big, amazing rush nonetheless. Then next, playing in the stands and riling up the crowd even more while they watch the game. It is exceedingly enjoyable to get the crowd to respond to songs such as "Go Big Blue" and our cadence. It seriously adds to the excitement of the game. Last, there is the obvious, getting to hang out with my friends and have a good time makes the games better a 100%. I get to have fun with…
In an attempt to become a more aggressive business operation, Hilton Hotels decided to change its strategic direction by venturing into the gaming industry. With this strategy came not only new opportunities but also large elements of risks and competition. In 1994 the growth in the gaming segment declined with gaming operating income down by 7% from 1993. The Hilton Hotels however had a 3% increase in occupancy from 1993. In view of this, it is important to understand market needs and develop marketing strategies in tune with creating customer value for long-term performance. A few of the key issues facing the Hilton Hotels is as follow:…
We were in Canada in Summer. My family was headed to the CN tower, one of the tallest towers in the world. As we were heading towards the tall landmark, we saw Rogers stadium. That is where the Toronto Blue Jays play. It looked like there was a game going on in the stadium. Everyone was wearing any kind of Blue Jays apparel. Since I was from the Washington D.C area, I was a Nationals Fan. The plans for that day was to go to the CN tower and go back to our hotel. All of that changed. My mom was amazed at the size of the stadium. As we were heading towards the entrance for the CN tower, my mom requested to go to the baseball game. In most of baseball stadiums, there is a hotel in the stadium. We went into the hotel part of the stadium and checked out if there was actually a game going on. There were windows that showed the field. We walked towards them and suddenly, the…
