• Enlisting more soldiers would have increased the chances of winning the war thus not wasting past efforts…
Going Solo, Roald Dahl's memoir of his work in East Africa and his service in the RAF, covers the buildup to World War II and his involvement in it. In the book, mention is made of British Immigration. British Immigration plays a large role in the memoir as it talks about how the British were sent to Africa to civilize the people there. Dahl says about British immigration that " [I]n the 1930s the British empire was still very much the British, and the men and women who kept it going were a race of people that most of you have never encountered and now you never will". In fact, British immigration is important because as it turns out, a lot of the British Immigrants couldn't even do civilize the people like they were supposed to.…
I do not believe that the United States should institute in the practice of requiring people to serve in the military. While it would be very loyal to the United States, I think people should have the rights to choose their own career and not be forced into something they have no interest in. Also with so many people being forced into the military for one or more years, other jobs would not have people to fill up positions, important jobs such as police officers, doctors, teachers, or even people in entertainment. Which would really change up the economy.…
The topic I have chosen for this assignment is the Conscription debate, 1916. The good point was how the Catholic Church opposed conscription as a reasonable concern for the welfare of their Church. This is depicted in my artwork in the top part of the eye, where two hands are pointing, representing a community. They represent the church and their desire for equality among all human beings, including soldiers and their families. I chose white for the background because it represents goodness in protecting the church and I also coloured the eyebrows orange to show the Catholic Church’s succession to opposing conscription.…
Being able to join the military, should be volentary. The benifits are far better then being forced so serve because people will be more willing. They will be more willing to fight, to risk their lives for the freedom of the country. If you foroced kids/ young adults to join and be forced to serve, the less they will want to help and to do their job. The forced soliers will not have the passion…
In some countries, every young person must serve two years of military service. The general public in the United States feels that we should allow that in our country while other people disagree. A two-year period of military service should be mandatory for all young adults, but making the devotion to serving that time in the military should be each individual’s decision. Personally, young adults should be able to live their lives of how they want it, and other mature people should be able to volunteer for the military. Each individual should be able to make their own choices in life and not be forced to do something they strongly disagree with. Granting opportunities to young and mature people will help the military enlist a mature recruit, strengthen the military clan, and attract even more people to join in the military. We should be able to grant choices to the young and mature adults and respect their decision.…
“No meat! No meat!” was a cry from a tired, desperate general in the suicidal camp at Valley Forge. On March 1st of 1778 is when I get to decide whether to reenlist or not from the army, but I have been thinking to myself why soldiers would want to re-enlist for 9 months at the Valley Forge Camp. The conditions in the Valley Forge encampment were terrible. First off, there wasn’t really any good and healthy food at the camp. Second, soldiers had been getting sick and dying from lack of food, and other conditions I will be talking about. Therefore, I have decided to not re-enlist from Washington’s army is because of poor living conditions, soldiers were getting sick and dying, and because General Washington was losing trust.…
I believe that required service should not be forced upon the American people. There's plenty of reasons as to why this would hurt America in general.…
In the United States of America, we consider voting to be an obvious right that everyone deserves. It is a part of our lifestyle and crucial in our government. Despite its importance, voting is not mandatory for American citizens. Only after becoming a registered voter, any United States citizen over the age of 18 can cast their ballot for who they want in positions of power within the government. Those who want to vote are able to, and several accommodations are provided for people who find themselves incapable of making it to the polls on Election Day. Without voters, our government would be unable to function properly. Compulsory voting should be put into effect in the United States, because over public awareness of politics would increase, the power of separate political parties will decrease, and the election results will reflect the public’s true opinion.…
Should the United States require all adults to perform one year of community service by the age of 30? I personally think this is a topic that is not at all, relevant. I believe if someone wants to lend a helping hand, then they should lend a helping hand. If you don't prefer to do this kind of community service, the government shouldn't force you to do so. There would be a lot of change in how community service is done today if the government required at least one year to be served by the age of 30.…
The debate of conscription between those who wanted to adopt it or those who still wanted volunteerism was developing and this caused division in society. In 1915, public opinion was changing to demand for conscription, but many still resisted conscription. Women were the most prominent group expressing their opinions of ‘all eligible man should fight’ in publicly, great supporters of conscription. Especially, those who had husbands, brothers or sons overseas fighting began to feel contempt towards men visible in town and called for ‘White Feathers’ which is symbol of ‘cowardice’ to name and shame them into fighting. ‘Shirkers’, however, wanted to choose whether go the fight or not rather than being forced to fight. The Labour movement were another group which initially opposed to…
The America I believe in has a firm, rigid foundation in our military. We have a numerous of veterans everyday going to war just for our freedom that we have here in America today. Our military isn’t just fighting for our freedom, there are fighting so we can have peace here. Our military is what we have today, which is a great country, free rights (unlike other countries), etc. There is more of incredible offerings that can just come from military. Our military people are constantly getting calls to go on military duty. I can imagine what it is like for numerous people to have a family member going to a military war. My mom’s side of the family was constantly having to move because her father was constantly having to leave for military…
Accountability can be described as the process of being held liable or responsible for an action or given task. Accountability goes hand in hand with being successful in any place of work. To be accountable would mean being willing to accept responsibility for ones actions. Being accountable shows moral discipline and portrays maturity. Accountability also correlates with knowing where a certain person resides currently or in the future. In the Army accountability represents organization, discipline, and control. Accountability becomes an obligation when you join the Army, it benefits every party involved.…
Why should Mandatory Health Care be a necessity? Mandatory health insurance is important to improve the well being and the health of our citizens. Study show that the United States health system are well below other countries when comparing life expectancies of our citizens to those of China, Europe and even Canada with our health system. There are many aspects that play a roll in improving our health system, but the three major factors are preventive care, accessibility and health care reform. Studies show that preventive medicine can decrease cost and have a better treatment outcome. Better access presumably improves health outcomes. Each community should have some form of health clinic that patients can go for care. Health care reform is greatly needed in America in order to be up to standard with the other countries that are leading the world in health care and life expectancy. With mandatory health insurance all citizens will be able to have access to a doctor without an excuse before a minor problem becomes a major or long term expense.…
It is generally agreed today that national service is compulsory for each SPM leaver. National service was first started around the year of 2004. The SPM leavers are randomly selected to enter the national service. As directed by the Ministry of Education of Malaysia,it is compulsory for each selected youth to participate in this programme. Actions will be taken if they do not participate in it. I personally agreed that compulsory national service is good for the youth. One must admit that national service can bring so much benefits for them.…
