One reason we shouldn't ratify the Constitution is because it will be filled with the elite class. This speech made by Amos Singletary says that the rich will overcome the farmers and the middle class of people to become the highest position, and then this man will be a tyrant, like King George was."And then they will swallow up all of us little folks."This means that not only will we have the rich ruling over …show more content…
us, but with they're very sophisticated language and speak, they will make it so we are forced to swallow the pill.People will have trouble paying because the rich have taken the places as supreme power and then will tax more, for they can afford the taxes, yet the middle class cannot."They find no difficulty in paying their taxes, but people of the middling class do feel these difficulties."Once the elite have taken over, a tyranny will happen either way, because of more tax, middle class cannot be educated or raise enough money to campaign.
Another reason we should not (and will not!) ratify the Constitution is because it is highly dangerous.
According to the article written by an anonymous writer, the government is not separated, which everyone wants, but is mixed in way that even Great Britian doesn't have it in their constitution."The legislative and executive powers are not kept separate as every one of the state constitutions declares they ought to be; but they are mixed in a manner entirely novel and unknown, even to the constitution of Great Britain."This means that we are trying something completely new, that we don't even have a vague meaning of what it will do, and so it is incredibly dangerous to try at our state right now, for we are in debt to
France.
Some people argue that we will have no troubles with taxes.According to the newspaper article posted in 1787 by James Wilson, he says that most of our money will be raised by import (which is less "bothersome" to the people) and only a small amount of tax will be direct taxation."I predict that the great revenue of the United States must, and always will, be raised by impost, which is easier to raise and will be less bothersome to the American people."I disagree that a small amount of money will come from direct taxation because once the elite get into Congress, the "little" amount of money compared to them is nothing, for they are wealthy, but compared to us, it is very high.
There are many reasons to not ratify the constitution. Our country needs a better constitution for having such a new government, and that our government will be filled with the elite class in all important positions. The constitution is a horrible proposal because it will destroy us, for it is new, and if it doesn't destroy us, the government will then be filled with the elite class.
