While the Europeans were trying to settle Charleston, South Carolina there was a big problem called Geography. Geography made it a struggle for many people to settle Charles Town because of the obstacles people then encountered trying to settle the new town. The one most encountered obstacle that the Europeans faced were forests. Forest were hard obstacles mostly because they're so big and people could get lost easily. An advantage the Europeans had were when the native american were chasing them the forest could be a good place to hide from enemies. The reason the Europeans settled in Charles Town was because it had many good resources. One of the best resources the Europeans found out were plantations and farms. The new land had “extraordinary rich, black mould, and some of a copper-colour,both sorts very good” which meant more crops and better farming for the europeans. As they went farther into the new world they encountered new “beast of prey” like Panthers,Tigers, and wolves. So it made it more dangerous for the settlers to hunt and explore.
Out of all the good things that the new settlers explored there still one thing that was terrible named “DISEASE”. Disease made settling the new world very hard because it was contagious and if you were around it you go could get the disease. The most known and relevant one was smallpox. Smallpox grew rapidly like a branch on trees and infected many people even soldiers. “A violent kind of small pox rages in charles town”.
When you first settle or doing anything for the first time nothing comes your way. That's how it was for the new settlers trying to make a living in the new world. The reason it was difficult for the settlers to settle was because of the new animals, geography, disease, and resources. As time went by they started adapting to their environment. Now since they have adapted it easier to do all the stuff they want to do.
