There are various struggles faced by the American people because of the mishaps of sex. Many religions and faiths indurate the task to teach the concepts of sexual conduct. Some feel it is of great importance to give sex education whereas others think it goes against common principles. However based on surveys many parents are very abstinent or too shy to talk with their children about sex education. One may argue that the sex revolution of 1960’s was very devastating, aggrandizing teen pregnancy and divorce rates and proliferating sexually transmitted diseases such as aids and herpes which have no cure. However it is also very important because it drew the attention of the authority’s and public towards the necessity of sex education. The opposing views says that giving kids information on birth control encourages them to have sex and abstaining is the only way to prevent teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. Whether or not sex education should be permitted and will be beneficial is a question many are asking, but only few know the answer to. Adherents of sex education brace schools to arm students with as much information as possible related to birth control and information about sexually transmitted diseases. Supporters also say education is the key influencing teens to keep from having sexual intercourse, thereby restraining the number of unplanned pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. Abiders claim that sex education in schools can help children understand the impact of sex in their lives and it can also answer all the questions that they have regarding their changing body and hormonal surges. The U.S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirms that, when taught comprehensive sex education, 83 percent of teens wait longer to have sex compared with those who are taught abstinence-only sex education. Our society tends to believe that if students are well-educated, they will be empowered to make smart, healthy decisions about sex and their bodies. On the other hand the opposing view states that abstaining is the only way to prevent pregnancy and contraction of sexually transmitted diseases. Supporters of abstinence-only sex education believe that giving adolescent’s information on birth control emboldens them to have sex. Some proclaim that sex education is appalling, a subject not to speak about. Others argue that informing youth about ways to have sex without becoming pregnant might demoralize them from being abstinent. Abstinence-only sex-education supporters state that abstinence is 100 percent effective in preventing teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases and the use of condoms which sex educators promote and are not 100 percent effective, especially when used by young people who are inexperienced in their proper use. The counter argument states that it is best to abstain from sexual activity until marriage. (Conclusion) Whether sexual education should be implemented in the learning system is not something anyone is sure of. People have reasons for going against it whether its religion or elsewise. In turn many feel it is right for this generation of learners to gain intelligence of sexual awareness. It is a disputable concept that most likely needs political approval. The result will not favor all critics of sex education.

Comprehensive Sexual Education What has happened to today’s society that we are opposed to condoms because they might entice sex? When has allowing our youth to practice unsafe sex over safe sex been okay? We often think because we supply kids with condoms, birth control, and talks, that we are giving them permission to have sex, when in fact we are merely trying to protect them from STDs and pregnancy.
