The Importance Of Spring In Utah

Spring brings many wonderful things when living in Utah. It brings new life to plants and animals, it brings rain showers that last for hours, and it brings my favorite of the four seasons. Once the snow melts, we are able to go outside in the sun that we haven’t seen for months and enjoy all of the activities we love. I have always been a baseball player and all baseball players know that spring is the start of a new season. My first year in high school I was extremely nervous to go to tryouts that kick off the baseball season. I was intimidated by the upper classman and had my doubts on attending. I knew I was a good enough ball player, I was just thinking about all the bad things that could go wrong. Once I got out there and started to

Spring is when the sun comes out and new happenings begin. Everything around is full of life whether it is flowers and trees becoming green or families being out enjoying the beautiful landscape that we are given in Utah. During the spring LDS conference begins and all the Mormons gather outside of the conference center waiting in great anticipation to hear from the church leaders. Spring cleaning begins and gives everyone a chance to go “out with the old and in with the new”. When spring is here, for one week, students are given a much needed week-long vacation. This is the perfect chance for students and their families to enjoy each other during the week that they usually don’t have time for, or visit places without being penalized for missing school. During spring break my whole family celebrates Easter. I will never forget my first Easter over at the grandparent’s house. Everyone is still reminiscing about their summer days. Getting back to school isn’t always that bad. I get to see some of the people that I didn’t get to see while school was out. Fall in Utah is where the weather gets cooler and the days get shorter. All of the leaves on the trees change colors making one of the most beautiful sights that can be seen. Canyon drives always enjoyable in the fall. Driving to the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon enjoying the mountains and all the pretty colors from the leaves changing colors. Fall is that time of the year when all the Mormons gather to watch general conference for the second time. Everyone is filled with joy with the upcoming Holladay season and excited to here from the leaders once again. Fall is when Halloween roll around. Families spend time together carving pumpkins to scare the trick or treaters that dare to approach there house. Haunted houses are making a great activity. My First date at a haunted house was one to remember. Instead of my date hiding behind me the whole time, I was the one hiding behind my date. At least we both got a good laugh out of it after the scaring was over. People dress up in costumes to collect candy until there bag is full to the top. My first Halloween as kid in elementary school I decided to dress up as a lumberjack. Going to school the next day countless people came up to me, trying to recognize who is was.
