Although, this is a stereotype, because most popular kids are often not truly satisfied with their lives. Just like Margo, she is friends with everyone and is considered well known but in reality she is alone internally. “That's always seemed so ridiculous to me, that people want to be around someone because they're pretty. It's like picking your breakfast cereals based on color instead of taste” said Margo. Margo projects herself as loving and admirable person but internally she questions why everyone seems to be her friend just because she is pretty. Just like everyone has followers on social media because they are attractive, does not mean those followers are their true friends. Margo actually has no friends because no one sees her for who she is, they only notice her appearance. Sometimes it is better to be loved by a few who care, than be noticed by many who don’t.
In Paper Towns the author gives the reader a pleasurable but mysterious read with many lessons to be learned. Such as one can survive anything in their path, don’t judge a book by its cover, and being popular is overrated.
