Consider da Vinci’s Mona Lisa for a moment. If this painting were ever to be destroyed in any way there would be an uproar. Or consider The Last Supper painting, also by da Vinci. This painting has been an integral image in the Christian faith for so long that, for anything to damage the painting, individuals would feel such a tremendous loss. These paintings hold more than simply an image. There is passion and emotion spilled into every single brush stroke used, and everyone reacts differently to each painting. The movie talked about the man who had to sort through his own family’s belongings once he was taken prisoner, and I remember thinking that I would not have been able to do that. I would have been completely broken and enraged at the heartless actions of Hitler and the Nazis. To see the strength that these individuals held in themselves, and for each other, was inspiring. They could have all lost hope and they could have given up, but they remained firm. They held their place and they continued fighting for what they knew was right and for what they knew their people
