The VA health care system provides so many opportunities for our veterans. It serves a unique population and has the potential to become one of the most efficient systems within the US. For some, the care is administered at a lower price, and it is sometimes even free, depending on individual qualifications. Also, with that status, the person has the capability to enter any VA hospital/ clinic and receive medical care. Along with the VA health benefits, the patient also has the option for additional coverage with…

If the companies described in this case cannot fill all vacant seasonal jobs with workers under H-2B visas, what other options are available for filling the jobs. I would start with adjusting the pay rate for the jobs in question, raise the amount per hour paid, and the potential employee pool will grow. Make a benefit package available for the part time employees; this would be an attraction for job seekers that would not normally consider this type of temporary employment. Possibly consider making some of the positions a full time position in order to entice more potential employees.…

Soldiers returning from duty who served in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars have the highest rate of suicide among veterans in our nation’s history. The rates post 2001, the real beginning of the USA’s involvement in these conflicts, have increased significantly more for the 2 branches of military that get more up close and personal with the conflicts (Army and Marines) versus those who fight from afar (Air-Force and Navy. In 2009 the US Army suicide rate was almost double that of regular civilians. While there are programs in place to help returning veterans, the Veterans Association (VA) is unorganized, outdated, and doesn’t do nearly enough to protect the mental health of those veterans. We need a new,…

Because of their illness, soldiers are discharged from their duties but have a hard time adjusting to civilian life because they have specific skill sets. They also get a lump sum of money after missions instead of a steady pension which can be gobbled up quickly and leave them in financial stress for the rest of their lives. Financial issues are not helping the state of minds of the veterans. Many are already depressed and facing other mental problems, and financial issues are just making them worse.…

The Veterans Administration is known not by the exceptional care and service they provide, but by the outrageously high numbers of suicide and death to service members waiting to be seen and treated through their facilities. We see brave Americans risking their life and limbs to defend this country only to return home to a flawed healthcare system. Since the beginning of the Second Gulf War, the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) has seen a surge of veterans coming in to seek help physically, and mentally. Even with the startup of the crisis hotline, a 24-hour support line, 22 veterans are committing suicide each day across the states. I want to find out if the crisis line is even effective. Also if this suicide rate has stayed its…
