A part of me always my sophomore year of high school my class had an assignment to relate to the great depression. The question was “how is the great depression relevant to/in the world today?” Instead of doing a research type paper explaining what happened and why, I took a different approach to it. I tried to write it through the eyes of the experienced. On the top of the graded paper, my teacher wrote “eunoia.” Confused, I questioned my teacher. It was Greek originated, meaning a beautiful well mind. My teacher recommended using different forms of vocabulary to broaden the way I explain things. She introduced me to a whole new meaning of vocabulary words. The way the words sounded grasped my attention. Later I researched the origins of English words to expand my vocabulary and get a better further explanation what words really meant and where they came from. No teacher ever went over the origins of words. Learning this has made me realise what can make a writing piece come alive in the palm of my hands and create an escape.
