The Sustainability of the model over time remains a pragmatic approach to the practice of evidence based. Many changes occurred in the health care systems since 2001 which included different triggers that allowed for the completion of evidence-based practice projects such as; the eruption of systematic reviews, clinical practice guidelines, and the advancement of implementation science. In 2015, the model was expanded and became known as the Iowa Model Collaborative which was updated and revised to the Iowa Model Revised: Evidence Based Practice in order to advocate for Excellence in Patient Care. The version of this model integrated the cooperative input from users across the United States. In April 2015 the model was rolled out both nationally and internationally. In July, 2015 the model was rolled out to the Sigma Theta Tau congress and was presented to the AORN Surgical Conference & Expo in April, 2016.
