The Kite Runner

The Kite Runner focuses on the life of Amir, a shy young boy and the son of a wealthy dad from Afghanistan. Amir participated in kite competition to get his dad's acceptance. Fortunately, Amir won the kite competition with his best friend Hassan’s help. However, Hassan allowed himself to be raped to save Amir’s winning kite, but Amir decided not to help him, and he walked away. Hassan’s dad found out what happened to his son and he chose to leave the house. Then Baba asked Hassan if there was any problem, but Hassan kept the secret even though Amir betrayed Hassan. Upon the beginning of the war, Amir and his father left to America. Years later, Amir began to lose his feeling of guilt until he found out Hassan was his half brother. Amir discovered that Hassan is his half brother, but unfortunately, he passed away a few years ago, so Amir decided to save Hassan's son in danger with taking the risk of his life.
Amir was prepared to do everything for Hassan because Amir wanted to redeem about what he had done to Hassan in the past. I felt Amir sincerely wanted to get over his guilt and this is the reason why he went to the terrorist group to save Hassan’s son. “There is a way to be good again.” This quote shows me Amir was regretting that he left his best friend Hassan alone because of his desire. After the kite competition, Amir bullied Hassan because he was so ashamed of himself and the fact that he betrayed his best friend, so he didn’t have to face him again. When Amir was young, I was able to recognise that he was a selfish person, but this process made him become a mature person. Nowadays, many people decide to hide their sin rather than paying back. However, Amir showed us that there are still people who know how to compensate for what they have
