The Kite Runner
In Khaled Hosseini’s “ The Kite Runner’’ one of the characters Rahiem Khan says to Amir “There is a way to be good again. Amir knows he has to go to Pakistan to see Rahiem Khan. During first few chapters of “The Kite Runner”, Amir is seen as a very young boy, always going on adventures with his friend Hassan. His father, Baba is a filthy rich man, lived the good life, lived buy a moral code and was a succesful bussiness man. He never really paid attention to his son but he still loved him. Amir has been wanting to redeem himself to his dad because he feels responsible for his mothers death. Baba wants amir to become a strong young man who knows how to take responsibility, and stand up for himself. In the end of chapter 3, baba is talking to rahiem khan about amir. This quote directly translates to one of amir’s character flaws –his Cowardice-and baba shows a lot of value he places in standing up for what is right. Baba is reluctant to praise him, largely because amir lack the amount of courage to stand up for himself even a little. Because of this flaw in amir, it lead to relationship problems with Hassan. Amir later in the in the story, has joined the kite running compotision to get so acceptance from baba. He later wins the compotision and gets congratulations from everyone. Amir brings in the kite, puts it in the house & goes to search for hassan. He than find him in an alleyway with Assef, a kite running competitor and two others. Amir stands and watch as hassan is raped. Amir did not do anything to stop it. Which brings up a lot of stress in
