The Knight's Short Story: The Bystander
Glimmering in the wind, the young knight pulls out his sword and turns to the big green giant that has stumbled his way off the ground. The beast sways side to side making his clunks of metal around his hips chime in the wind, his dirty brown fabric that covers his body torn and shredded. His ugly face does no justice, having warts and a long shaggy beard that still had chunks of meat dried in blood from yesterday’s late night meal. His eyes dart with anger at the man standing in front of him who woke him from his slumber. The knight struggles as his armor continues to hold him back from moving with swift motions to miss the swings of the giant, dodging to the left and sliding to the right just barely missing the tree trunk that was thrown. …show more content…
With light footsteps and a quick mind, the bystander removed the armor to relieve pressure off his chest. Still breathing he moans in pain but comes to an awakening. He stares at the figure above him who stares back with big hazel eyes. As he lays there he comes into more awareness of what’s going on and the realization that he has lost and failed his father and now must go back to face the disappointment. The knight slowly gets up but stumbles, with two broken ribs, he was going to need help getting back to town. He rises and looks down at the girl standing before him, with hope, he asks if she has a horse that he could borrow and explained who he was and what situation he was in but she only stared back with a blank look. As the darkness began to thicken and the air became bitter, the girl turns and heads into the woods. With a surprised look, the knight quickly chases her and tries to explain that the forest is dangerous and she could be only hurt but yet again she stares back with a blank look as if she didn't understand. She then turns again and continues her path but this time the knight simply

Soon, Beowulf wrestled him down and his group of strong soldiers tried to attack it with the sword, but did not work. Seeing them troubled, Beowulf used more force and pulled his arm out, which led to Grendel eventually dying. This led to great joy in the town. There celebrations and parades held in the town in honor of Beowulf. Because of this great achievement, the name Beowulf spread far and he received international fame. The Ring Prince received a great celebration, but he did not know a great danger awaits.…
