The Korean Immigration Edwin Lee Summary
The Korean immigration Story During the occupation of Korea by Japanese thousands of Koreans moved to the U.S.. They went through the Angel Island immigration station.Of those hundreds/thousands two of them were Edwin Lee’s parents. Based on what i read Edwin lee’s father came through a fake identity back then it was known as an alias.His father had to leave korea because of the annexation of what was going on (the occupation of korea led by the Japanese). Edwin’s father traveled in a total of six Koreans.
The author states that out of those six Koreans they were excluded because they were diagnosed with the hookworm.When he came to The U.S. is first job was selling and picking grapes.After that he tried college and didn’t like it.So
after that he started a grape selling business.
Based on what i read Edwins mother also came under an alias, known as Kim Bok So.His mom came on October 1, 1917 at the age of seventeen years old.After that she was married on September seventh 1919.
