The Landlady By Roald Dahl

In literature, as in life, thing are not always how they appear to be. Most short stories from this unit support this statement. The Landlady is written by one of the most famous authors Roald Dahl, and the story is about a landlady who stuffed 3 men in a room which was very ironic. When Billy went to england he went to a bed an breakfast to have a place to crash and the land lady put poison in the tea to all 3 victims tea cup and when they died she would stuff them. The one thing that makes Billy want to stay at the bed and breakfast because of the really really low prices. So Billy seemed uncertain of the low prices and was very sceptical. When Billy asked the prices he asked “how much do you charge?” The landlady answered Billy “Five
and sixpence a night, including breakfast.” (pg 173). The reality is that the landlady made the prices so low it will lewer people in and she will eventually kill them and stuff them. “Oh dear, I am, my dear, I am. But the trouble is that I'm inclined to be a just teeny-weeny bit choosy and particular if you see what I mean.” (pg 174).
The lesson that Billy Weaver learned is that if a random stranger offers you something that could be bad towards your health, don’t take because you don’t want to be harmed. This story builds a lot of suspense towards the reader because when they start to talk about how she really liked him and started talking about the room made the story really suspenseful.
