The Last Day Of The Rest Of My Life Analysis
The glare of the morning sun strut it's way through the small gaps not covered by the curtains. It's golden rays slowly dancing along the tips of my skin, warmth, so much pure natural warmth.

In my close to 30 years of life, I feel like I can say I've never truly appreciated the sun. Yet here I lay on the last day this body will draw breath smiling with the light of the sun waking me from my restful night of sleep.

No worries, no doubts.. relatively no cares. In thirty years when was the last time I was ever this relaxed?

With a slight yawn I peel the covers from me, disrupting my comfort and peace.

“Today's the first and last day of the rest of my life.”

Okay maybe not in that order, but the statement still stands.

As I look around the hotel room I can't help but think about the

A year ago I applied for this writing contest sponsored by the scientific nation of research and development.

Each contestant was charged with coming up with some in game plot. There would be a hundred winners who would have their plots added to the game's AI for quest references.

There was also the chance of fifteen people becoming a grand prize winner. The country kept especially secret the reward, doing everything to make sure the information doesn't leak.

6 months ago surprisingly enough I had a man in a suit standing outside my small door claiming to be a representative of their country.

After checking his credentials and inviting him in he broke it too me plainly that I was a grand prize winner.

He told me that if i accepted the prize I would be leaving for the main research department in charge of the game within a week's time.

He couldn't tell me what the prize was only that if I accepted I had to say my goodbyes to my family forever and be prepared to leave within the

The contest is over. James Haliday’s fortune has finally been won. The backstory to the contest is as follows. When James Haliday (creator of the OASIS) passed away six years ago, in his will was a video. That video explained that before he died, Haliday inserted “easter eggs” into his most popular game. He programmed in three different keys to three different gates. The first player to open the last gate wins Haliday’s fortune of over 240 billion US dollars. Haliday gave gunters, people who tried to win the contest, a hint in the form of a riddle. This riddle led them to one of the keys which then had another riddle, this was how pleople were supposed to find all the keys and gates. The Sixers are the yin and the gunters are the yang. The Sixers are a multimillion dollar company with experts who are trying to win the prize. This is considered unfair to the gunters, who are by themselves and think the Sixers ruin the spirit of the contest. This scavenger hunt all inside the OASIS has been going on for six years. Yesterday a gunter claimed the prize.…

Analysing this case we can say that in Berry v Gulf Coast Inc., Blair the manager of the restaurant, by stating the prize of the competition, intended to be serious and binding. Even if he said that as a joke, the offeree Berry didn’t know so, and the reasonable third person would understand the offer was serious.…

Usually, when one hears anything about a lottery, it is perceived as being a great fortune brought down upon whoever wins it, even if the person has done nothing to actually deserve it. After all, it is won only by a stroke of luck, an unforeseen and unexpected circumstance. But even so, it is supposed to bring wealth and luxury into the winner’s life. Not one person in today’s society would ever see the lottery as an unfortunate event that winning it would bring serious repercussions such as execution and death. On the contrary, “The Lottery,” written by Shirley Jackson, uses irony to exemplify how people can illogically follow senseless traditions and ultimately demonstrates how society can blindly persecute innocent individuals.…

Urquhart shows how the sun brightens and freshens everything and makes it feel like heaven, with its powerful source of light and energy. It starts to “enter from the garden” (2) shows that he feels at home. Continues throughout the house by “moving on the carpet” (3) he touches and brightens everything around, making humans wake up feeling energized by providing them that comfort and giving them that extra boost. Urquhart’s use of development throughout makes it evident that there is a purpose to the sun. The light goes about waking up inanimate objects in the house when “he polishes your tables” (19) as a result, the table is ready for the day. The author also writes about the areas in which the light of the sun affects in a sequential order until it contacts the person “a weight of gold and heat he stops burning at the flesh of your neck” (24 – 26) and performs his purpose. Overall the development reveals the sun can make everything around a human feel like heaven, “you are the only shadow in the room” (27) the sun can help to a limit. Hatred and anger from within can overrun it, if human’s let it.…

For most people the word “lottery” conjures up thoughts of winning a multi-million dollar prize, but for the villagers in Shirley Jackson’s “The Lottery” the word brings forth a sense of dread. The lottery is an old tradition in the village that happens every June 27th and starts out as a seemingly innocent event. However as the process of the lottery begins, it is obvious the lottery is a thing the villagers fear.…

    Irony in "The Lottery"

Irony, generally described as expressing something different from or opposite to a literal meaning, is used as an underlying theme in Shirley Jackson’s short story, The Lottery. As an age-old tradition, the lottery is one in which a single person in the town is randomly chosen, by a drawing, to be violently stoned by friends and family. The main example of irony throughout the story resides within the fact that the word lottery suggests that the winning villager is going to receive some kind of prize. However, the winner receives the prize of losing his or her own life. Not exactly a prize to be won, if you ask me.…

Emily Dickinson seems to be in dismay, contain grief, be confused, and even jealous that it wasn't her or another that died in the woman's place. With all of these emotions in place, Justin Bryant’s note seems appropriate. He noted, “"The speaker never has one solid and stated attitude toward the woman's death". She switches her attitudes back and forth throughout the poem in her utter confusion.…
