The quality of the material was previously more cheap; this means that the artist needed more ability to create the paint, Da Vinci was always the best, his expansive a big knowledge for the anatomy of human body gave him the ability to paint figures in a very realist way, in The Last Supper. Leonardo’s Studies allowed him to paint complex and lively scenes without taking or sacrificing proportion. Customers however still wanted the paints more realistic.
