As a child, I got flu and colds every time. My body is somehow weak. I always had a negative attitude whenever I am sick but what I learned is medicines aren’t enough to make you feel better. My friends would always come to my house to make me laugh. I tried to become more positive when I am sick because if I become positive, I don’t have anything to lose. I won’t get mad, stressed, or get worst. As a result, having positive attitude made me feel better and it didn’t had any negative effects and negative attitude just made me worst.
An organic chemist, Hans Selye wrote a book called “The Stress of Life” and it is stated that there is a connection between mind and body. Norman Cousin also had proven that there’s a mind-body interaction by creating the Laugh Therapy based on “The Stress of Life.” He thought that if negative emotions produce negative changes then positive emotions produce positive changes in the body. When he used that therapy he recovered from his sickness. As a result, there’s really a connection between mind and body.
The Laugh Therapy can produce chemical changes that can affect both your physical and mental conditions. Positive attitude and doing activities that can make you laugh produces seratonine and dopamine. Seratonine helps the body to have a happy feeling and a calming mood. Dopamine helps the brain movement regulates. When seratonine and dopamine are produce, it helps the body to have a positive change in the body.
