The Laws of Life
"Each contact with a human being is so rare, so precious, one should preserve it."(Anais Nin). This means that every person one comes in contact with has an influence on his life. One should never forget the people who go out of their way to be nice to them. Influences others have on my life are the most important details of my life. There have been many influences on my life, three of which stand out the most, my laws of life.

One influence on my life is people. Miss Haferman is a person who has had a very great influence on my life. She was my first grade teacher.

She was the most caring and dedicated teacher I ever had and she respected every student as an individual. On the other hand, she had a very negative influence on my life. She is the person who told me there was no Santa Clause, which ruined Christmas for me for a very long time. Another person who has had a great influence on my life is Mr. Robinson. He was my first band teacher. He is the person who convinced me to join band, which helped me make many great friends and also made school fun for me. He also taught me how to play the clarinet. Now, I love playing the clarinet and it could even get me a scolarship for college.

Another influence on my life is incidents. Moving to Tennessee was an incident that was very influential on my life. One way it was influential was losing all my old friends whom I had known my whole life. They were a big part of my life and I still regret ever losing touch with them. Moving to Tennessee was also influential because I had to make new friends, and I became less shy and more outgoing. My friends in Tennessee and my friends in Illinois are very different, but they are all very great people.

Another influential incident in my life is going to FCHS. Going to FCHS also caused me to lose some of my friends. Even though I lost those friends, I made many friends who are really nice. I also learned alot about who my real friends are.

Society has also had a

Quite possibly the most impactful event in my life was the death of Harriet Williams. Harriet was a foster mother and a devout Christian. She had fostered six children to adulthood and one of her own. When she stumbled upon me I was only 2 months old and the story she would always tell was and I was so cute that she just had to adopt me but because she didn't want to make the other children jealous she adopted all of them as well. Harriet had enough love in her heart to adopt 7 other boys and two girls all because she loved me. Looking back on it now she probably said that to all of us but it will always be special to me. So for the next 14 years I had a family just like any other family but also unlike any other. My mothers thought was that…

I have had multiple influential people in my life, but I'm not going to say my parents or a great teacher, but rather someone closer to my age. Andrew Calton, a good friend and great influence. Andrew helped me “get back on my feet” when I was scared to kayak. I would stay on the lake and not go on rivers because I had no confidence in myself. Late at night he and Jack White, another good friend, came to my cabin at camp and told me there was a spot on a trip and he wanted me to go. I went on the trip and the fact that they wanted me to go boosted my confidence. We went on harder rivers I had never been on and I did not swim, or bail out of by boat once.…

    1. The Holocaust unit we learned about in class has impacted my life in many ways. It has changed a lot of my opinions on a variety of different topics and made me realize how horrific the Holocaust actually was. It was not until after the lesson was complete that I totally grasped the severity of the events that took place at the German hand. I was shocked and appalled by the actions and crime I heard about during this dark time in history. I have been enlightened to new things I never thought possible for human beings to do. This lesson is one I will carry with me for the rest of my life.…

My family environment has influenced me a lot especially when my siblings were born. I am the oldest out of five, so I'm always look up to. I always had to make a good example and never show that I was scared. When my mom and stepdad had to work, I would take care of them until they came back while getting my schoolwork and practicing my instrument done too. I never really had a chance to be a kid, I always had to be a mother to my siblings. I would always wish for more time in the day for myself, Although watching them grow up from when they were small and started school for the first time made up for that loss time. I live up to a quote, "Be the master of your future, not the slave of your problems." My senior year I had to stop being…

The single most impactful experience in my life is attending Ventura Community College. Nothing has hurt me more. In high school I had taken AP and IB classes and had finished within the top ten percent of my class but I had no idea what I wanted to do. I applied to some schools that I considered to be mediocre so that I could continue swimming, but as the application deadlines ended and most of my friends were being accepted to places such as UCLA, UCSB, and even Harvard, I had realized that I wanted a greater challenge and possibly a greater reward. It was too late, I was going to community college.…

Influence is powerful in determining one’s future. Actions behaviors and opinions are all connected to impact of others and the way they shape our views on the world as well as ourselves. Self-Image is dependent on the acceptance of others, thus always changing since one’s morals and ethics do not stay the same as time goes on. Influence of others play a role on how one tends to view themselves and people around them, by either being forced to conform to a country’s lifestyle, completing constant tasks to keep up with society’s demands, or being able to be content with oneself rather than being blinded of the onslaught of constant expectations.…
