The Legend Of Buffalo Woman
The legend of “Buffalo Woman” is where the woman chooses her husband hoping and risking to not lose her own people. Buffalo woman was considered brave and also had the expectation of being honored due to her asking the man for marriage. Native American women had the authority to choose how they wanted to live they also wanted the expectation of being honored by being able to request whatever she wanted as long as it was not unreasonable. We learn from this that not all native women were under anyone’s authority, but some were under their own and made their own decisions. Another legend is the legend of Godasiyo which was a Woman Chief that gave harmony to the American Indians and had authority to make rules which gave the natives unity.
Although the intentions were well we learn from this that Godasiyos people found reason to be divided from one another, which caused jealousy and anger towards each other due to the fact that she allowed others to make the rules.
