When people think about their favorite childhood movie, there are many movies that a person can choose from. For me, The Little Mermaid comes to my mind. When asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”, I often remember myself answering the question with the response “A mermaid.” Her beautiful long, red, hair, her outgoing personality, and most importantly, her extravagant life under the sea made me want to be just like her. Overcoming a hoarding disorder doe not happen overnight, so it is very important to realize that small steps are just as beneficial as taking big steps. Overall, hoarding is a disease that can be very difficult to overcome. In order to overcome this disorder, the problem must first be recognized and accepted. Although hoarding comes in mild and severe cases, there are multiple ways to receive help. With proper treatment, and the right mind-set, a person can resolve their hoarding disorder, and it only takes one step at a time. For Ariel, since her case was mild, having an open, optimistic mind will be very beneficial.
