There are seven parts of the liturgical year, Ordinary time, Advent, Christmas, Ordinary time again, Lent, Paschal Triduum, and Easter. Ordinary time is common weeks that do not belong to a particular season and during this time Saints may be honored. Advent is the preparation for Christmas; Catholics are to use this time to prepare for celebrating the birth of Jesus. Christmas is the celebration of Jesus’ birthday which is celebrated December 25th of every year and for the following twelve days one for each of the apostles that followed him. Lent is a season that remembers when Jesus was tempted by the devil for 40 days in the dessert without food and water. During this season Catholics give up something they love or that tempts them to remind them of the sacrifices that Jesus experienced. The Paschal Triduum represents the day Jesus died on the cross and then the two days in between and on third day when Jesus rose from the dead in fulfillment of the scripture, we celebrate Easter. The Easter season last 50 days until Pentecost; Pentecost in the Judaism is celebrated as the birth of the church.
