The Lorax: How Far Has The Earth Been Desecrated?
How far that the earth been desecrated? An animated film The Lorax shows a clear picture of what the world could soon become, if the human race does not take a step back and find a way to fix what we have created before it is too late. There are many similarities between the film and what happens now in our everyday life. The film Lorax is a comical film that tells a story of a man who ventures out into the forest and begins to cut down forest to produce a garment. As the garment became more popular and sells increase he finds that he needs to cut more trees to produce the garment. The man originally promises the Lorax that he would never cut down the trees, but puts his promise in the back of his mind and eventually cuts down all the trees …show more content…
With a reflection in to reality, this can be closely related to how fast we build houses for the growing population of humans, and now there are so many houses sitting empty now because people cannot afford them, and are being foreclosed on. Later in the movie the community rebuilds and closes off the deforested area with a wall. They rebuild the community without the presence of plants, or trees which are outlawed. The mayor of the community is the villain in the movie because he outlaws trees and plants because he is in the business of selling air, and marketing the “quality of it”. The thought of selling oxygen it just appalling but, happens every day companies like Prax Air sells oxygen to its patients everyday who have respiratory …show more content…
Does our society truly understand how important our trees are, and do we have any idea of how bad off we will be once they are gone? How close to complete deforestation are we with the world’s population increasingly on the rise, and why market this film to children instead of making a public announcement of the severity of the issue? The film showed the quality of air being controlled by the mayor, which is the same in our world; the government controls what goes and what does not. So why not put a stop to it? Just as it was in the movie is the same in out reality it is all about the all mighty dollar. To produce a movie of this caliber and to make it geared toward children is kind of mind twisting. Is this just a really good movie or does it have a hidden agenda? I would like to believe that we now realize just how much we have done to the earth and it is too late for us to fix, so we inform our children and put it in their hands. It is believed that behavior is learned, so unless we teach our children about the importance of our trees and recycling the human race could become extinct.
After viewing The Lorax it really opened my eyes to what is going on in the environment. It is one thing to hear about the environment because all the terms can become quite confusing. When it is broken down to where even a kid can understand it becomes shocking. I have

Suss. many people read it to their children not even thinking that that story is probably going on in their neighborhood. it talks about how the bar-ba-loots are starving because they cut down the trees. this translates to when we cause deforestation we cause other animals to loose their home and food. the story also states that the smoggy skies scared away the swomee-swans and that the gunk filled water destroyed the humming-fishes ponds and streams. this shows that if we polite it will kill many animals making our future look very bad. this all leads to one big point, don't hurt your home or you'll end up…

In addition to tragedies such as oil spills, many of our natural recourses today are going to waste. Trees are any living thing’s best friend. Without them all species would die. "'There's a forest,' said Violet. 'It’s called Jefferson Park. We're thinking about going either there, or out to beef country.' My dad nodded. 'It'll have to be beef country,' he said. 'The forest’s gone.' 'Yeah. Jefferson Park?' ‘Yeah. That was knocked down to make an air factory'"(125). Anderson also explains that the air is fake and made by machines because the environment can't produce it anymore. Pollution is not the only thing. Radiation is also something to factor. We must act quickly to help improve these conditions.…

Many people around the world do not see that their wants and needs for natural resources are destroying the world and the environment. Although you hear about it all over the news, people do not realize that the littlest need can turn into a huge need, causing the resources to become slim to none. The need/want of natural resources by the society, is not only hurting the society, but also the biodiversity and the environment, which is shown in “The Lorax” and Easter’s End.…

According to The American Forests, people were just cutting down trees for fun or for money. John Muir believes that the trees were God’s work, and people can’t just cut them down for fun. An exact quote from the American Forests that supports my idea is, “God has cared for these trees, saved them from droughts, disease, avalanches, and thousand straining leveling tempests and floods…” Deforestation deserves the second largest gift of $300,000 because if people are just cutting trees down for fun then all of the trees will be cut down. If all the trees get cut down then there will be a lack of oxygen, and it will ruin the animal’s…

From the perspective of space you can barely tell the effect humans have made on the earth. As you get closer, however, you can see the trash and impact we have truly caused. “Trashed” was influential to me because it opened my eyes to a different perspective. It showed me real world people in real world situations. I’ve ignored the facts and was ignorant to not think of the fact the world is deteriorating around me. I never really thought of where all our trash goes not only as a community but as a entire world. I have thought of how we affect the world around us but not in this aspect. I did not understand it was this bad and to this level. It honestly scares me. This is an award-winning documentary movie. It was directed…

Although the movie seemed to stretch the scientific "evidence" to match their viewpoint, a few enlightening points were made that will affect my own sense of self-awareness and ultimately how I interact with and motivate people. Deforestation is an issue we need to fix. I would like to spend 100,000 dollars on deforestation because some of the trees that are being cut down are thousands of years old. “Any fool can destroy trees”(John Muir, “The American Forests,” Atlantic Monthly, August, 1897) Above all this, one fact remains the same, we need trees to live. If we destroy all the trees in the world, we are left with harsh living conditions for ourselves. Our forests should be preserved if we want a better nation.…

As our society turns our focus to the earth’s environmental status, the controversy between whether new age clearcutting is a viable method to be used in the forestry industry is a trending topic between environmental groups and forestry corporations of the world. While one side, environmentalists, argue that clearcutting is the death of a forest, increases erosion, and nearly eliminates wildlife habitats, the accuracy of these statements is false. Clearcutting, a method of Silviculture, is effective when used to meet various forest management objectives such as assurance of successful regeneration and effective utilization of commercial timber, because it allows shade intolerant tree species to regenerate, successfully control forests insects…

Our once clear and blue sky now darkens with dusty smog and heavy dirt-loaded fog that proved to be unhealthy to the city’s inhabitants. There are millions of ways to easily pollute the air yet there has been no solution on how to stop this enormously destructive equivalent of progress. Who’s going to pay in this peculiar and yet highly repulsive crime? Who is suffering most from this deceptive brand of freely exercised air destruction?…

The movie in summary portrays that earth is slowly dying due to the pollution that the human race produces each day but do not realise the side effects of this. However in this story, it begins where piles of trash were seen on the surface of earth and the human race were forced to leave for space as it is too difficult to survive and sustain in a place where there is no sign of survival at all. Thus, they created a robot which is capable to clear the trash by crushing it into cubes. However as days go by, Wall-e was the only robot left as the others malfunction. While collecting trash and putting it into cubes, Wall-e found a small plant in the midst.…

The bell rings and school lets out and the only way to the bus is through the field of Abbot Park. Before the team and I got ready for football practice, we always walked to get something to eat. Trailing the kids to the bus, I saw homework on the ground, trash, and a lot of irrelevant things not pertaining to a healthy way of life. All I could think to myself is this, in twenty years if we are disrespecting the earth like this; what are our successors going to do? It is absolutely astonishing that anyone can waste natural resources considering the fact that we are running out of it at an alarming rate.…
