The Lord Of The Flies, By William Golding

Lord of the Flies, written by William Golding, is a story about a group of stranded boys who try to survive the cruelty of nature. They are stranded after their plane crashes, likely due to the war that surrounded them. They are all alone with no supervision and have to figure out how to run things without destroying the urge to stay civilized within them. The group of young brits is quite obviously divided into two; one yearns for peace and logic, the other for savagery and instinct. “Kill the pig! Cut his throat! Kill the pig! Bash him in!” The boys are turning into animals the way they act out the slaughter of a pig. Even though there were plenty of resources to provide them with food, Jack, a want to be the leader, decides it would be best to spend time on catching an animal. In times of great strife, some people will act irrationally and end up making their situation much worse than it was before.
That is the struggle the group in Lord of the Flies faces. Ralph, who is doing his best to push for a civilized way of things with Piggy, a bringer of logic by his side. But when the trimmed and proper boys are tossed into a place with no adults or rules, you can’t blame them for wanting to get a little rough. Although Ralph has a good dialectic sense of things, Jack is consistently pushing the way he speculates the island should be run. Things become quite estranged with the fighting between the two. Ralphs efforts to be cordial with the group go to waste when Jack starts saying they need to hunt so they can eat meat. While everyone could have survived on the abundant plants with fruits and vegetables galore, Jack convinces them that killing a pig would be more beneficial.
