As I read this story more and more, I became attached to Rose and wanted to know more and more with each page turn. At the same time, however, I was saddened when reading this book because it made me think about the other children that are often “lost” in the welfare system and have their lives forever changed because they are passed from home to home or cannot get resolution to their past. In Rose’s case, I was saddened and also angered by how some in her life as she was older (both professionals that had Rose as a client, and certain members of Rose’s family) treated her as less than a…

the balusters, and lowered himself to the ground. With the deftness of a big cat prowling an African savannah, as silently as possible, Roger Nelson sauntered with great care along the side of the house to the front. But when he checked for the lookout, to his surprise, he was not there. He had deserted his post and the door was unguarded and open. Great! Roger thought. He was pleased at this turn of good luck for his mental gifts were noticeably and inexplicably compromised.…

J. F. Powers omnisciently narrates a story of a former white-collared worker that becomes a temporary, manual laborer and his acclimation to his new life. “The Old Bird, A Love Story” tells about the mental journey that Mr. Newman goes on to accustom to his new life as a blue-collared worker. The author explains his situation in a sympathetic manner by describing Mr. Newman’s thoughts, emotions, and reactions as he goes through his day. Powers excellently delivers the story with a light-hearted tone that strikes the heart of his readers. He often compares his previous lifestyle with his current one which gives off a sentimental feeling, similar to a parent as they look at their child all grown up. They reminisce about the past, but do not wish…
Most people could agree that all have been in some sort of love over the course of their lifetime. As a relationship is built off the love for one another, what is to be done if you are in love with one who has less than admiral feelings for you in return for your very best. Sonnet 30 by Edmund Spenser and an excerpt from “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare touch upon the feelings of the two authors at the time of a complicated love they felt for someone. In the two poems, Shakespeare and Spenser use visualization and symbolism to get across the theme of not being able to achieve the love they desire.…
A very common fairy tale that we have grown up hearing is the story of Cinderella, a poor girl whose dreams of marrying a prince and living happily ever after, finally comes true after many years of wishing upon a star. Individual writers of the “Cinderella” story may alter the story, but the general concept is always the same. This classic story has been told to millions of children and is known as a great romance. A romance is supposed to have suspense, anticipation, and a deep connection between the two characters that have and/or are falling in love with each other, and Cinderella is none of those. “Cinderella” is a great rags to riches story, but it is far from a romance.…
In “About Love” we read the dynamics of romantic love which tries to show that ‘love’ as such is not bound by marital relations. Anton Chkhov presents accounts of love affairs expressing his personal experience which makes him feel that love is just a hindrance and a source of dissatisfaction and irritation.…
Today I’d like to tell you about fantasy literature. It is very hard to tell all about it but I’ll try to do it as good as possible and not being boring.…
It was the last day of their senior year in high school, for both Ruth and Ivan, though Ruth mainly used her time to prepare a speech for graduation. That was until she didn’t show up on the last day of school, making him somewhat concerned for his best friend that he made only last year, so he decided he would try to call her since he texted and called her on a regular basis. With that thought in mind he took his phone out of his pocket, dialing her number and carefully putting the phone up to his ear. Only to learn that his dear friend was in the hospital from an attempted suicide because she had been teased so much by the other students about her condition that she couldn’t handle the pressure from these other people. This left him devastated, he never realized that Ruth had to endure this much pain, and that she kept it hidden away from him, it broke his heart, he could’ve helped her through this problem. Though he understood that she probably didn’t tell him this because she didn’t want him to get involved with her personal problems. Did that mean she would miss graduation and that she wouldn’t be able to graduate? This worried him even further, checking his watch to see what time it was, good, he still had about an hour before the early release schedule started. That meant that he could go see Ruth real quick without getting in trouble before skipping class or…
The situation that i want to tell is based on the true story which is it is about a school girl who have been raped and got pregnant.
