The Battle of Saratoga was the main turning point in the American Revolution. The battle started September 19th, 1777 and lasted through October 17, 1777. Saratoga took place in upstate New York. The Battle of Saratoga was an important achievement for the Patriots during the American Revolution. The battle also persuaded foreign countries, such as France, that America could win the war. Lastly, the battled renewed the morale of the American public. The Patriots won the Battle of Saratoga. The patriots went north to the village of Saratoga with 5,000 surviving troops. On October 13, about 20,00 patriots surrounded the British and four days later Great Britain was forced to agree with the
surrender of British forced in the war. Great Britain successfully agreed that that his surviving men would be returned to Britain by vowing that they would never serve in North America ever. The British surrender to American forces marked a turning point in the Revolutionary War. The patriot victory as Saratoga persuaded foreign partners, such as France, that America could win the revolutionary war. The British defeat convinced the French to ally themselves with the United Stated and enter the war against Britain. Most people agree that without France’s help America could not have won the war. The British had won the French and Indian war, so when the Patriots defeated them, France wanted to get revenge on the British because they had lost to them in the French and Indian War. So, when the Patriots won the battle, people looked at them in a new perspective. Winning the war gave Americans foreign assistance. Countries wanted revenge on Britain because they had lost to them so when the Patriots won, people looked at them being better than the British. Countries looked at them like they could win any war. When the Patriots won the Battle of Saratoga, it was an important win, it persuaded countries that America could win the Revolutionary War, and people renewed the morale of American Public.
