Ensuing the wreckage of the plane, there are five survivors that are being exposed to wintry cold temperatures of the Potomac. Above all, there is a Rescue Helicopter team on the way. Yet, "Nature cared nothing about the five passengers. Our man, on the other hand, cared totally” (Rosenblatt 276). As the reference displays how Nature is the all-powerful force in the world that cares for nothing, but also says there is someone in the world that cares. The man in the water is the person that pays attention to those that are in need, but also shows how he is a hero in the story, and in everybody's hearts.
As "The Man in the Water" is descending towards the river, he jumps right into the river, as soon the pilot dips the skids right into the water. “People are powerless in the world. In reality, we believe the reverse” (Rosenblatt 276). As he plunges into the river, the man in the water demonstrates how fearless, courageous, and caring he is. By taking this action, he is risking own life, but he his passing his lifeline onto the survivors of Flight
