According to the text, “ i’m sorry miss lottie, i know now.” this phrase of apology fits this theme because the whole time she let her peers influence her in a negative way and letting her circumstance drive to rip up the marigolds.. After overhearing a conversation of her parents it drove her to the edge. When she woke her brother up and started on their journey to go somewhere she found herself going in to miss lottie’s yard. Another quote is; according to the text, “ miss lottie died a long time ago and many years have passed since i last saw her hut, completely barren at last, for despite my wild contrition she never planted marigolds again.” this means because of her overreaction to her life she caused someone who found joy and beauty in the marigolds to never want beauty to be there anymore.
