These differences are that Bettle lived in the streets, she had no food, no place to live and she was an orphan girl. At the village, some people did not treat her the way she’s supposed to be treated. She was bullied, and slept in a dung heap, she worked for food. One particular scene that stood out for me was when Magister Reese asked her about what she wanted in life. After much deliberation, she responded: “I know what I want. A full belly, a contented heart, and a place in this world.” Clearly, she did not want much. Most teenagers at this age are materialistics and do not appreciate what they already have. Teenagers now know how to read, write, have a place to live, they get better education and many more things that Beettle couldn't have. Our Modern time its a lot more different, teenagers cannot live in the streets, and they’re obligated to finish school. Thats the new law now.
Bettle wanted a place to live and a family, teenagers at this age need someone to guide them, someone who will teach them what's right and wrong. One of the similarities is that Bettle needed someone who will teach her, and give her the warm feeling of love by a member of a family or friend. Another similarity is that we do not give up, we fight for what we believe and what role we want to take in our lives, and if we fail, we try again and again.
