The Minimum Wage: Should Teenagers Be Paid?

20% of teenagers make their own money, and a majority of these teenagers work 40 hours a week. The minimum wage in Virginia is $7.25, and teenagers also get a paycheck at the end of every week. So that means if teenagers worked 8 hours a day for five days a week they would earn $290 every week. Imagine if one could earn that kind of money, think of the things that person could accomplish with the amount of money they are making. They could buy clothes, buy a brand new cellular device, or even save up to buy a car.
