The Mongols and Mali
The Mongols and Mali (C&C) THE RISE OF THE MALI AND THE MONGOL EMPIRES CREATE SIMILAR MILITARY CONQUESTS, RELIGIONS, AND DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS, YET THEY DIFFERED BY THE DOMESTICATION OF ANIMALS. In the rise of these empires many attributes contributed to their success including the examples above. Both the Mali and Mongol empires share similar religions, which assisted in the rise of these empire by attracting more people. One large religion that both empires share was Islam. Both Mali and Mongol rulers used conquests and military to force beliefs on other nations/ city-states around them. Religion also attracted merchants that wanted save travel, because they were the same religion or helped spread this religion merchants of the same culture were allowed to pass through trade routes and not be captured, become slaves or be imprisoned. The Mali and the Mongols both had strong calvaries and military. These dominated throughout the lands in which they could make alliances or conquer and forcefully take over. The Mongols conquered China and Persia during the rise of their time. These places helped the Mongol empire expand rapidly. Both the Mali and the Mongolian empires had similar diplomatic relations. For example the Mongols attempted to trade with small city-states in China. But China refused to trade with them, so the Mongols killed many of their people, took in slaves, and conquered the land claiming it to theirs. The Mongols also made alliances with some of the surrounding areas, like Persia. The Persians could live the way the wanted to but just had to pay taxes. The Mali made alliances similar to the Mongol/Persian one, the Mali made them with the local rulers and nearby city-states. Which resulted in a larger military and population. Both of these acts helped the rise of the mongols and the Mali by them gaining land and people. Although the many similarities, the Mongols and Mali differed in animal domestication. The Mali domesticated animals, like camels, for trade. These animals would assist in taking heavier goods or more goods longer distances. Which also helped ideas and religions travel farther. This would potentially help the empire to grow. But the Mongols domesticated animals to act as weapons, they used them to assist conquering farther places than just the small areas around them. They used their animals for battle and warfare instead of a service to export and import goods. These animals would help conquer places faster than with human power alone. Altogether the rise of both the Mali and Mongol empires were assisted in similar and different ways. Both the Mali and the Mongols rise was affected by military, religion, and their diplomatic relation. But differed in the way and reasons for domesticating animals.

Until the 12th and 13th centuries, cross-cultural interactions were unprolonged and less in number when compared to later centuries. However, the assimilation of much of the Eurasian landmass into the Mongol empire as well as the later European exploration of the Americas contributed to the creation of prolonged global connections in which the world’s major continents were connected. Two of the most notable developments include the caravel, which aided European explorers in their conquest of the Americas, and the stirrup and composite bow, which the Mongols used to conquer Eurasia and eventually led to the Pax Mongolica. These technological developments had major effects on both societies.…

The Mongolian rule had a very direct impact and influence in China and Russia in terms of political and economical structure. Although the Mongols were not as evident in the Golden Horde region, they still impacted Russia just as much as they did in the Yuan district in China. In both China and Russia, the Mongols left their mark by placing high taxes on peasants, taking full control over trade through the Silk Road, and increasing international diplomacy through various methods, creating Pax Mongolica.…

Although the rise of the Aztec and Mongol empires did not occur in the same time period or in the same region, they are still similar. The biggest similarities are that they both lived almost entirely off of tribute and relied heavily on their armies. However, these similarities also came with differences, like the fact that their armies used different strategies/weapons. Some other differences were that the Aztecs migrated to Mexico, whereas the Mongols were just unified where they already resided. Also, the Aztecs infused religious meaning with war, unlike the Mongols, whose religion was carefully observed. These similarities and differences were what made the Aztecs and Mongols who they were.…

The Mongols had one of the largest land empires in history, though this did not come easily to them. To be able to control the amount of land they did, they had to conquer many places like China and Russia and did so using a strong and well trained army along with many allies, and good tactics. The Mongols had a large influence on both the political and economic systems of Russia and China for a period of time, though in Russia, the Mongols ruled from afar and the original rulers still had control of their land and were left to govern themselves to an extent whereas in China the Mongols affected them more by controlling them directly.…

There are a couple of main similarities between the Mongols and the Romans, in general. The main one being that the two had very disciplined Military forces comparable to modern day armies. Both forces understood what it took to conduct campaigns rather than fight individual battles to the death....almost the beginnings of operational arts although they certainly didn't realize this and codify it. Also, both the Romans and Mongols were very good combat engineers with the Romans being some of the greatest combat engineers the world has ever seen and the Mongols using ethnic Chinese engineers and siege equipment. Consequently both knew how to conduct siege operations. Both also understood logistics. The Romans obviously understood this because…
