This started when God led his people out of Egypt. The way he did this was through Moses. The word of the Lord came upon Moses telling him to tell the pharaoh to let the slaves free. The Pharaoh said no so God’s wrath came upon Egypt with plagues. I find if very cool and creative of God with the plagues. Later the Egyptians chased down the slaves that they let go, and god destroyed the Egyptian army to lead his people go to the promised land that will soon be given to Moses in the Mosaic covenant. Throughout the journey God tested his people to test their faith in him. He let them starve and have very little water. Then he would put desirable objects in front of them to tempt them in leaving God’s side.
The worst part is every time Moses warns them about something they don’t agree with or they want something and Moses says no. They would blame Moses when he is the messenger. So it’s like they are yelling at God for everything Moses says when it’s Gods words coming out of Moses’s mouth. This angered God enough so everyone who was over a certain age would die in the desert.
