The Most Dangerous Game versus the Child by Tiger
How are the two stories “The Most Dangerous Game” and “The Child by Tiger” similar and dissimilar? There are some parts in a story that are comparable to the other, but mostly you can tell that both the authors were trying to tell different stories. Even with the details that you read you can tell that the two authors were trying to be creative and write their own story. Regardless of the fact that they are unlike in their themes and characters, they share some similarity in their plots.
The theme in “The Most Dangerous Game” is obvious. It is good vs. evil, because Rainsford, which is apparently the good guy in this action/ adventure stories, because he immediately disapproves of the idea of hunting humans. On the other hand General Zaroff, who is the demented bad guy, thinks that Rainsfords is ludicrous, because he denies Zaroff offer to go hunting with him when he finds out what the “animal” is that they are hunting. For instance on pg. 15 Rainsford says “Hunting? Good god, General Zaroff, what you speak of is murder” this quote shows its good “Rainsford vs. evil “Zaroff”. In the “Child by Tiger” the theme is not as clear as “The Most Dangerous Game”, even though the author spends more time exploring its theme. From what I inferred the theme is that good and evil exist in everyday life, in what form it may bring. For example Dick was a deeply religious man, and nobody would ever think that he would do something like that, but his evil was shown by his actions. Not only did he show his evil, but Randy and the possess had shown their evil as well.
Characters in both stories are unlike in many ways, but the characters that are the most plausible are the characters in the story “The Child by Tiger”, because this is more of an interpretive fiction, and these are more likely to have well rounded and more complex. The author of the story uses direct characterization to show how that dick was a good man and how he put his multiple talents to good use. Even when he

In Richard Connell’s thrilling short story “The Most Dangerous Game”, an uneasy mood is constructed by Rainsford’s illusive adventure on Ship Trap Island. Many moments in the short story help build up a feeling of uneasy, one being when Winston uses a simile to describe the evil of the atmosphere, saying that the air “ was actually poisonous”, and that he felt a “mental chill, a sort of sudden dread” when the ship neared the island (Connell 1). The author makes the reader feel uneasy by making just the atmosphere itself seem evil and dangerous with the simile comparing the air to something that kills and is to be avoided. Readers also naturally pick up the feeling of dread from Whitney, which significantly helps in building…

I find that the most important part of this story is how the plot moves along so quickly. It also manages to describe successfully each conflict or major part of the story. The key element of the plot is when Zaroff and Rainsford play the game. The main conflict would be external which is man verses man, or Zaroff verses Rainsford. There are three major conflicts of man that can be found in Connell's short story "The Most Dangerous Game." We have all witnessed the typical mystery murder case stories and movies. Surprisingly, we all still react to the stories with shock, like we did not know what the outcome would be; multiple lives that were taken or that one somebody over powering the murderer. In this case, we have a man who hunts animals, but also have another man who is more interested in taking his hunting skills to the next level, which is quite extreme. In the short story “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, we have the sense of man verse man, but also man verse nature. The question is, who will be defeated?…

Can a man be driven from humble humanity to gross inhumanity by circumstance or situation? What effect do one's choices and training have on his morals? At some point in our lives we will all be forced to answer questions similar to these, and two characters in Connell's story "The Most Dangerous Game" are not exempt from these life decisions. Sanger Rainsford and General Zaroff are both wealthy, both are hunters, and eventually both men are put into situations where critical choices must be made. The choices the men make are derived from different situations, but both have similar results.…

I have recently watched a movie called High Noon and just read a short story called "The Most Dangerous Game." High Noon came out in theaters in 1952 and is about a Marshall who has four criminals who want revenge on him for putting one of them in jail. It has cowboys and gun fights in the Old West. "The Most Dangerous Game" came out in 1924 and is about hunting and the main character surviving all by himself. Both of these stories are very well told and partly have suspense. They might have a lot of similarities but they also have many differences in the two main characters, conflict, and the theme.…

It is both nonfiction and a personal account, while the other two stories are fiction, “The Most Dangerous Game” being adventure fiction, and “A Sound of Thunder” science fiction. Compared to both stories, “Being Prey” is also very short. It doesn’t really have many different characters, and it doesn’t have too many different elements and subplots going into it; it is purely a telling of a misfortune the author went through. Though they were all very different, all of the stories had good pacing and were written well. Every story also kept the reader in suspense, as we had no idea what would happen next, and each story had the factor of possible…
